A terrible experience without a single redeeming aspect at the worst run hotel in India. I wish I could tell you about the rooms, but we never got beyond a (figurative) middle finger from “reception.” We had booked and paid well over a month in advance through Agoda. Our plane was delayed several hours and we arrived late at night, at about 1:00 am. We had tried to call them to tell them we would be late, but the phone number we were provided was for another hotel on the far side of Goa. That we arrived at the hotel at all is a miracle because the address was bogus too! It was only by sheer luck that the taxi driver could get us close enough to find a sign pointing to the hotel. Once we arrived we were told that, even though we had already paid in full and were in the books, they had given our rooms away. There was another group who had been on our flight who were arguing because, while they had booked two rooms for five people, they were being given a single room large enough for one person. The staff were fantastically unhelpful, occasionally laughing amongst themselves as we asked, and eventually demanded, to see the manager. Eventually they reluctantly called the assistant manager who showed up essentially just to tell us they had no rooms and to go away. In the end we were forced to find a new hotel in the middle of the night. In order to get back the money we had already paid we had to file reports and return with the police the following day. Even after our trip we still had to fight (and are still fighting) with Agoda (who have been just as unhelpful as the hotel staff) and file a report with our embassies. From talking with the police and the taxi driver I got the impression this happens a lot at this hotel. I said there were no redeeming points, but after seeing the rooms (shown to us by another disgruntled guest while visiting with the police), not having to stay here for four nights might have saved our trip to Goa. We stayed at other similarly priced hotels throughout or stay in India and they were clean, comfortable and helpful. You can do better than Furtado’s! Even if you are content to stay in a large concrete dustbin DO NOT consider paying until you are handed a key.

Stayed at Furtado's for 2 night's and didn't want to leave, we had a fantastic time there,
watching the sun set, got some fabulous photo's, spent the day's lounging on the beach protected by an parasol, felt totally relaxed, and pampered, the staff brought our drink's to us
we didn't have to move, the food was very well priced, friendly service, nice staff.
Our room was basic but for where you are, it is well worth it, looking forward to going back.
Thank you for our lovely relaxed stay.

Monsoon season, they were just hit by a big storm the day before we checked in,so roof repairs were going on.
No check in formalities or ID check, our Non a/c room was pre booked el Cheapo through cleartrip.com, about US$12 per night with discounts ,but quite bearable with the overhead fan and after I got some masking tape and sealed up the gaps in the window fly screen we could open the window and got a bit of a cross breeze.
The room actually had a a/c unit in it,and the fan mode worked, but they turn off the compressor ourside if you book Non a/c.
This place is a [DIY] "do it yourself", so dont expect the room to be made and cleaned, or towells or bedding changed unless you kick butt, that we had to do.
Likewise the porch outside, its easier to sweep it yourself.

THe water tower that feeds the rooms was always empty,so no water was going to the rooms to shower of flush the dunny, but I learnt how to turn on the pump to fill the overhead tank that gravity feeds the rooms.
Hot water in the bathroom was available into a water bucket for dipper washing, but not to the shower head.
Plenty of staff, but all running around like chickens with their heads cut off,and the manager chasing and yelling at them.
The beachside restaurant tables had the most flies on the table cloths that I had ever seen, standing room only really for flies.
This might be a seasonal thing,I dont know.
The beach hut/bar area was all covered over with plastic tarps,so not very much view or atmosphere,or breeze, but its monsoon time,so its the same everywhere here.
The menu was fairly extensive, but the best was the Tandoori which fired up each evening, and operated by a tall guy who new his Tandoori.
Flat bread and Tandoori chicken,Oh Yeh!!
The beer prices here were expensive for a beach shack,100 INR per large bottle, tourist price im sure, but do your drinking on your balcony and save heaps.
You can buy mixers here, and sometimes scrounge ice cubes for your balcony boozing
We did initially try a cocktail at the restaurant,a whisky sour,it was terrible,No clue at all.
The beach is clean, and swimmable, and a shower is on the beach.
You can walk left or right to the next beaches, where there are more Restaurants, the biggie beach being to the right.
Over all in retrospect we enjoyed Furtados, and if you have a rental motor scooter on hire, you can go anywhere from here.
They are around 200 Rupee a 24hr day if taken for a few days.
Furtados can arrange them.
Nomad

Room Tip: take some masking tape, and disenfectant for the shower room,Oh! and dunny paper!!.

Furtado’s or as we named it “Prisoner Cell Block H”. Words cannot describe how depressing this place is but we will try. You could offer this place as a punishment. It put a downer on our holiday. Description of room – Steel box complete with frog, lizard and mozzies + a florescent strip light mounted in the top corner of the room (useless) to give a romantic shine to the room NOT. Double bed with dodgy sheet , don’t think they were clean and a large steel door that clangs shut to imprison you for the night. Perhaps would suit a desperate backpacker but not in our lifetime. We paid for three nights but were out at first light the next day, practically running out. Miserable on the outside, suicidal on the inside. All this for the bargain price of 1600 rupees per night with A/C, 600 Rupees without (same room just had a ceiling fan). Although this seems cheap to British people for 1600 rupees you can get a really lovely room at Palm Grove cottages which is where we ended up.
If you have any self respect find somewhere else. Dregs need only apply for these rooms!
Make sure you see the room before you part with the cash and believe me it looks 20 times better in daylight.
Please note: This is our opinion of what is was like and perhaps others may feel differently (although who I don’t know). We are a young couple who are willing to explore different places and put up with most things but I have never seem my husbands face drop like this and he is Mr Adventure!
