We just stayed at Mamgo Grove for almost two weeks. We only left because our room (the apartment) was already booked out. We had initially only booked for three days but ended up staying because it was such a nice place and we were safe there. Caetano is a friendly guy, the family even the dog are lovely, and the setting is ideal.

we stayed for one week at this guesthouse. it is far away from the beach, which attractions to offer. the rooms are really ok. BUT: the owner is a penetrant control freak who watches your room without your permission. he pictured us as up-messed guys who lie all the time. he -the owner- is very greedy for money and he will miss no chance to cheat on you. dont take ever breakfast there. one slice of toast is 30 rps. a coffee with milk 50 rps. so keep your money and go to a better place excepz you like controlled like in prison

The facts from the owner of Mango Grove Guest House:

1) Length of stay not a week: These two ‘backpacker’ guys from Austria aged 34 and 25 booked a large apartment for a full week. After only four nights they told me they wanted to leave but only paid for four nights. I did not ask them to pay for the week they had booked because I wanted them to leave as early as possible because I could not stand any more mess in the apartment.
2) Leaving a mess: I saw these guys bringing lots of beer and alcohol into the apartment so I asked them not to make a mess. When they left I told them I wanted to see the apartment and I was surprised to see the mess they had made. There were bottles spread out all over the apartment and some were broken. I told them that they need to clear up before they left the apartment but they didn’t do this. It took my family a long time to clear up the mess they left.
3) Breakfast prices: They had a breakfast at our guest house. Before the breakfast I showed them our menu card with prices. They said it’s fine and ordered TWO coffees (at 25/- each cup) and one toast with jam, butter and honey (at 30/-). In their comment they say we charged 50/- for one cup of coffee so this is incorrect.
4) Far away from the beach: Our guest house is 10 minutes walk from the beach and it says this on our website. The walk from the centre of Benaulim village to the beach takes the same time as from our guest house.
5) Malicious and libellous comments: To call me a “control freak who watches your room without your permission” and to say that I am “very greedy for money and will miss no chance to cheat on you” is malicious and libellous. It’s a pity that we cannot afford to take legal against these guys in Austria for making these comments. It is also a pity that it’s almost impossible for us to get Tripadvisor to remove these malicious and libellous comments but we have reported it to Tripadvisor.

These guys commented “we need no policeman!” However, in my opinion, they do need their parents to look after them as they do not know how to behave among decent and respectable people. We have never had such a mess left by any guests in our guest house since 1976.

We have only had and we only want decent and respectable guests in our guest house. Therefore, if you are the type of person who does not respect our property or consider our other guests we do not want you to stay at Mango Grove Guest House.

We stay in Bombay and were looking to get away to Goa for the weekend. Mango Grove was a perfect spot to stay for this purpose -- close to the airport, close to quiet beaches and food, good value for the price, and an excellent landlord in Caetano. He was sure to check in every day and make sure that all things were taken care of. The closest beach was about five minutes walk away, and the main Benaulim area was a little more than ten minutes walk. Caetano organized us a scooter rental as well as a taxi headed back to the airport, everything taken care of with ease and a smile. Even better, his two month old black lab Mercy was always available for petting and walks on the beach! Absolutely worth coming back to.

we stayed at a double room with ensuite bathroom. its very good value for money if you dont mind a bit of walking. we paid 350 per night and the bathroom has hot water all the time. its about 15 mins walk away from the maria hall where you get buses for everywhere and about 10 mins walk from the beach. the beach is very beautiful with little crowd and white sands. a nice rafael' place serves nice food with free wi fi. maria hall has two three cheap yet nicely serving indian eateries.

its a quiet little place, away from the crowds and well ideal for a long stay. mr rodriguez is a nice fella to chat up and share info with.

I went to Benaulim (Goa) last weekend (September 14th 2012) and one friend of mine told me about Mango Grove Guest House. He's been there and enjoyed the place.

We gathered a group of 8 people and stayed at the guest house for 3 days. It's really comfortable and Caetano, the owner, is an excelent landlord. Everytime, he's asking if you need anything and he's also a pleasent and talkative person.

He showed us where is Benaulim Beach and also helped to whole group to enjoy the trip during these three days. That's the kind of attitude that makes the big difference.

Plus, I am brazilian and Caetano, who was born and raised in Goa (ex-portuguese colony), spoke to me in portuguese for a few moments, which made me feel even more at home. :)

Stayed here in October a few years ago. The owner was very helpful & friendly.
2 mins walk to the beach, just up the road.
Very clean, with good quality showers, warm water.
Great food / entertainment close by, cheap taxi fairs and food.
Cant wait to go back, best holiday ever!

Thank you.

Was there fro 2D/2N frm June 1. Had booked the basic room, attached bathroom is OK, the plus being 24 hrs running hot/cold water. The Place is 5 mins walk frm the beach.

The rooms are a little hot, but the weather was pretty muggy.

The Rodrigues family who own the place are pleasant ppl.

Could do a little better for the price (450/d)
