Sea Breeze Beach Hotel
Ranked #92 of 116 Hotels in Calangute
Reviewed 19 January 2013

Sea Breeze Resort is the right place to be. Off the main road, and tucked just behind the beach, the resort gives you the quiet, relaxed holiday feeling. While there are too many rooms overlooking the tiny pool, if you go in the non-peak/off season, it's just fantastic.

The place is comfortable, and ideal for family and friends in my opinion, maybe even for backpackers who have a little bit of a budget. The place is kept clean, which is always pleasant. But the service is average. The breakfast is terrible to say the least, and ditto with the restaurant, which has very limited and not very well done food.

Otherwise, it's behind the quiet end of the of Calangute beach, where one can just walk up to, making it ideal if you just want to bum around.

I visited this hotel in the end of Nov '12. Sea Breeze Beach is centrally located in Calangute and is also a 5 min walk from the beach. Its location is definitely a plus.
The rooms are spacious and clean, and the balcony overlooking the swimming pool is a nice place to sip tea and relax. The bathrooms however are a little small and need more lighting and ventilation. The swimming pool was well maintained, and had cute bar stools in it where we could sip on drinks.
We stayed here for 2 nights, but had breakfast only once. It lacked variety and freshness and post that, we did not eat at the hotel. However there are a number of good eateries nearby so food can be well managed even if you stay here.
The staff at the reception was courteous though service of drinks and food needs to be improved.
All in all, a good stay, good value for money and lots of fun. I'll definitely be going back.

Location: Candolim Beach is no longer a great place to stay as it's very touristy and crowded. But if anyone wants to stay at Candolim, Sea Breeze is very centrally located and close to the Beach.
Rooms: Decent size, overlooking the pool if you can withstand the stink all around. All you really need in Goa is a decent bed to crash into after a long night at the beach or partying, but a bad quality mattress with bugs biting you all night was not my idea of a good nights rest. Not to mention the hotel could not provide a decent blanket - actually there was no blanket.
Service: What service, no wifi, a broken tap with no hot water, absolutely no room service. You'll see many of the hotel staff hanging around, listening to music and chatting among themselves but they somehow disappear when you ask for help. Since there is no phone in the room, you have no option but to 'search' the hotel staff out. Even then it may take you an hour to get a bottle of water. It's an easier option to go to the close by super-market (newtons) and get whatever supplies are required.
All in all, i love Goa and the hospitality one gets. I've been going to Goa for the last seven years and have stayed in the best of hotels and remote shacks which cost much less but this has been a really bad experience. Would not recommend anyone to stay here.

Room Tip: Dont stay here!!

Our family stayed there for two weeks during the Xmas season on a package holiday. It was ok I guess, far from any luxury though. The area was quite quiet, although there was a school next door and had it not been for the holidays, the kids would have started screaming and supposedly their teacher drumming at 8 am six days a week, we had a little experience of that at the beginning and the end of our stay.
The rooms were ok, pretty plain, but we didn’t spend much time there. The sheets or towels were not changed daily, but we could live with that. Sometimes there was no hot water. At the beginning the fridges were not working and later some pipes were leaking in the bathroom, but all were repaired immediately when we reported them. Air-conditioning and fans worked well. There was no internet connection, but buying a prepaid 3G SIM-card from a nearby shop was a nice solution to that.
The breakfast was limited, and drink-wise only tea or coffee was included. Snacks or other ok foods could be ordered throughout the day. The staff was mainly friendly, although they were out of proportion upset when my husband didn’t want to buy a bottle of wine for their rather pathetic complementary Xmas dinner. And the boys by the bar didn’t speak or understand English too well, but they tried their best. The pool was nice and clean.
During that season most of the other guests were from Nordic countries and Russia. Some of the latter decided to have a party by the pool one night, and kept the whole hotel awake as all rooms are facing the pool. None of the staff interfered. They received multiple complaints next morning and probably had a discussion with the party people as that was the only incident, but I wouldn’t trust them to be able to prevent that from happening again when the next troublemakers arrive.
The walking distance to a relatively calm part of the beach was around 300 metres, with only a few hawkers on the way. There was a similar walking distance to the main road, and there was a nice and friendly taxi service by the outdoor being eager to arrange almost any kind of trips and costing much less than the trips organised by the travel agency. We took advantage of that and had no complaints.
All in all, the only time I felt a little desperate was the first morning when after too short a night we woke up for that continuous drumming and drumming and drumming. Otherwise it was ok, if you are not looking for luxury. Still, next time I would consider paying a little more and going elsewhere.

Though the stay at Hotel was quite comfortable and staff were pleasant. I personally felt that Hotel should provide water and should not be charging for the same as it is a bare necessary item. Also, there was no floor mat in bathroom which is quite inconvenient when you get out after having shower.
The best part is the hotel's proximity with Calungute beech and the pool side is plush green.
