We stayed at Seagull from Mar 29 to Mar 31. This place has everything you will need when on a holiday. They also have a clean restaurant attached to the property serving Indian as well as Continental Cuisine. The food is pretty good and the staff is very friendly and kind. The beach is just a 5min walk from the hotel. The rooms are very clean, well ventilated and maintained. We had a wonderful stay at this place and the staff made us feel at home.Overall it was a great holiday and the stay at this place made it and excellent one. Not to forget, the rooms are a great value for the price. Cheers to the hotel and its staff. we will definitely visit this place again - Shashidhar, Bangalore

I stayed at Seagull Jan 2014 and found it a wonderful hotel with every amenity you would want on holiday. Very close location to beach, great restaurants close by and all sorts of shopping in the vicinity.
The Manager Alwyn was very knowledgeable and helpful with info re the best restaurants in Goa and all places of interest to a visitor.
Staff very obliging and did a wonderful job of making everyone feel welcome and relaxed on holiday. Good food in the restaurant and rooms great value for the price. Will book again for Goa..... Joy - New Zealand

We planned our 4 day trip just before Christmas time. We had booked the hotel 2 months in advance to avoid last minute rush during peak season. Despite that, when we reached, we were told that hotel is overbooked and were requested to shift in another sister hotel of group for 2 days. We were unhappy with mismanagement but decided to adjust to unavoidable difficult situation being faced by hotel management.
But at the end of 4 days, we were pleased with management of hotel. At both the places, we were felt welcome.
About Seagull: Rooms are basic but in good shape. Restaurant is lively and mostly buzzing with activity in evening. Calangute beach (not main beach) is just 5 minutes walking. We like this beach more than main beaches of Goa.
And above all we liked the demeanor and responsiveness of Allwyn, Seagull's manager. Good work guys!

Hi All,

I just came back on 06th of Dec 2013 after staying 4 nights over there in a dirty hotel and management i did a blunder by choosing this hotel after reading the reviews and info on trip advisor which stats the hotel has got certificate of excellence 2013 which is absolutely wrong ,I request you all do not go there if you are an indian specially...i will be uploading the dirty pics of the hotel very soon..........

Very basic rooms, bathrooms were quite dirt and the lighting in the room was terrible. /i have ask to change the room but dint get change. The restraunt is very small that too for foreigners only. Pool is very very small. Definately would not recomend any one stay there.

In reply we would like to mention what the guest has willfully omitted ..

It is mandatory and legal requirement all over the world (including Goa) for hotels to insist of proper photo identity of all guests checking into hotel. This is to ensure safety of other hotel guests, deter prostitution, in case of accident of death of guest and discourage criminal activity or individuals. (obviously a sensible law)

This guest brought a female companion who was not his wife and refused to submit any government approved photo identity despite repeated requesting by hotel staff.

When staff explained we cannot allow the woman to check in without identity proof and explained the reasons being legal requirement he got upset and after a lot of arguing finally submitted his female companion's identity.

This extreme reluctance to give photo ID of the woman speaks for itself. Almost 90% of reviewers till date seem satisfied, extremely satisfied or happy. Although we agree it is impossible to keep everyone happy we still try..

The guest insinuates he also had a problem that there were only foreigners in the restaurant which seems unnecessarily racist to international guests to our country.
We should respect all people irrespective of nationality, color or race.

Thanking you
Regards

Stayed there for around a week May last year.

Cons: Laundry, bed, safe, attitude, TV, Food
Pros: Price, *A Reverie - Fine Cuisine*

The Calangute area is not recommended unless you are a cheap beach freak, food quality in general is a huge problem. There is an excellent restaurant at the end of the street.

Dear Sir ,
We are sorry you think all the people writing glowing reviews of Calangute are nothing but "cheap beach freaks" It portrays you as highly ignorant and opinionated of the world you live in, as a majority of people seem to like Calangute . It is not only the most popular beach in Goa but the WHOLE OF INDIA .

Your opinion of our hotel also carries a similar prejudice about it being hyped as over 94% of the guests have left glowing reviews and you belong to the miniscule 6% minority who also goes on to suggest that the 94 % are wrong and you are right .

We stayed at the Seagull for 3 weeks in January/February. We are seasoned travellers visiting India every year for the last 7 years so know what to expect from accommodation.
We arrived very early in the morning and were shown to our room, which looked clean and tidy. The room was at the front of the hotel and after a couple of days we realised that the balcony was in permanent shade. The room was over the bar area which was very lively and quite noisy every night on top of this they had a large screen and projector showing football every night, not conducive to a restful night’s sleep.
We asked for a room at the rear of the hotel and after a week we were moved, this room was a little smaller but much quieter. We also had sun on the balcony helping to dry the towels after a hard day on the beach.
The hotel does have a small pool but we didn’t see anyone using it during our 3 week stay, also the sundeck around the pool was very dirty and far too small to use.
I have to say the room was not cleaned very well and all the time we stayed the balcony was never swept. The bed sheets and towels were changed a couple of times but would have benefitted from more frequent changes. The wet room was very wet (no shower curtain and for the first week we had no mat for the floor so both the wet room and bedroom became very slippy.
All that said, this is a budget hotel and you get what you pay for. The staff were very helpful and always friendly. The food downstairs in the restaurant was very good and priced competitively. There are many hotels on Holiday Street so I think we will try another hotel next year.
We spent most of our time on the beach using Pedro’s shack, highly recommended and Sandrew, Ashok and the crew made us very welcome. Many fine restaurants close to the hotel we especially liked Over the Flame and Kebab and Curry, but be careful as both are on the very dark and busy main road to Candolim
All in all we enjoyed our stay in India and will be back next year even if the visa has risen to £100.

Room Tip: Do not accept a room at the front of the hotel

Thank you for your views.

If you had mentioned at the time of your stay about the room cleaning it would have been addressed and rectified immediately.

About the music and screen we stop all entertainment at 10.30pm which is an acceptable time for people on holiday.

Having said that as accurately mentioned we appreciate that you have mentioned the below

" All that said, this is a budget hotel and you get what you pay for. The staff were very helpful and always friendly."

That is our motto to give people what they pay for..

Thanking you

It was my first time to Goa and I booked this hotel online based on the good reviews I read on tripadvisor. The reviews were extremely helpful and completely met our expectations. The Hotel Manager, Mr. Alwin is very friendly and was happy to guide as it was our first time.

Hotel & Rooms:
- Decent sized rooms with vintage style furniture, a small balcony facing the pool
- TV, Fridge and locker are available
- Bathroom was neat and clean
- Bed was comfortable to have a sound sleep
- Towels and Bed sheets were clean and replaced everyday on request
- Pool is very small but meets the purpose considering this is only a budget hotel
- Restaurant atmosphere in the evening is lively and kicking
- No room service but they made an exception for us as we wanted a glass of hot milk one night as my wife was keeping a bit unwell
- Kind, warm and helpful staff

Location:
- Hotel is located very close to Calangute Beach, around 5 mins walk (Biggest Advantage)
- Shops, supermarkets, bike hire, etc are available within a few mins walk
- Baga and other north goan beaches are easily reachable

Overall, we had a great experience and would highly recommend this hotel for those who are looking for a Budget Hotel with decent rooms and services. You will get exactly what you pay for!

Room Tip: Take a room facing the pool as it is more quite and pleasant (compared to ones facing the road).
