Located in one of the Calangute-Baga by-lanes, Mirabai restaurant rests majorly on word-of-mouth publicity. And oh boy! aint that the best recommendation? Mirabai is a sheer epitome of Goan cuisine and hospitality. The ambiance is a reminiscence of the old world charm, nothing over-the-top.

Mr. Vasu, the extremely delightful and friendly owner personally visits you at the table for your feedback and suggestions. The staff is ever-smiling and attentive and they help you choose a dish to match your palette. And finally, the food. Prawns and Shark vindaloo, Veg sizzler, Prawns Xacutti, Fish curry rice, Paneer tikka masala were just a few out of the many dishes we tasted more than once. The fact that we have been there many a times speaks about how much we love their food and their lovely hospitality.

Mirabai is not a place for those who start cribbing after 15-20 mins of food not arriving on the table. Everything is freshly prepared with great devotion in their see-through kitchen, right from the gravy masalas. Right from their cocktails to the Goan, Punjabi and Chinese fare, Mirabai is an oasis of culinary delight.

Eat here once and you’ll keep coming back for more. And while you are there, say hello to Chiki, the friendly mongrel, even though she’s asleep most of the times.

We have been going to this restaurant for over a year and a half now. Each time we are in Goa, we make it a point to visit Mirabai, which is owned by a charming gentleman, Mr. Vasu. The staff here is polite and courteous. Of course, the thing that matters most in any restaurant is the quality of food, and needless to say, we keep going back to this restaurant because of its delicious fare. I'm a vegetarian but my spouse isn't, so we order both categories and have been satisfied with the taste each time. The husband raves about the shark vindhaloo and Goan fish curry here, and the vegetarian sizzlers and (veg) north Indian curries I've tried are a delight for the taste buds. There's free wi-fi here, a TV that screens live sports, and familiar retro music playing in the background. The restaurant is in the lane opposite Mocha cafe on the Baga Beach road. Not difficult to find, as this lane also houses Chalston Beach Resort. I'd highly recommend at least one visit to this place for it's delicious food, warm customer service, and a friendly chat with Mr. Vasu!

At Mirabai they have the absolute best Butter Chicken in all Goa. The service is very friendly and the prices are very fair. They have a tandoori oven outside so you can see how the food prepared as well as open kitchen.

We just popped in for a light snack and a few drinks one afternoon. The place was fairly busy - a recommendation in itself - but were treated as if we were the only ones in there, such was the service and attention.

My daughters shared a prawn sizzler, and I had a chicken seekh kebab with butter naan. Both were presented beautifully and tasted wonderful.

Tucked away in a corner, this is easy to miss, but well worth the effort in seeking out.
