Pros: Great Staff and service, North Goa Location, on the beach, great viewing deck / bar for the sunsets
Cons: Pool is a Lap pool, housekeeping is poor, maintenance of the property is terrible.
The pool is DIRTY. we came back with a skin allergy after swimming there. They don't chlorinate the pool and when it gets crowded the water is all murky and dirty.
The rooms are terribly designed and the bathrooms are filthy. The design is an 'Open' design where the sink is at the head of the bed, toilet and shower cubicle are separated by a glass wall. The doors are also glass and not floor to ceiling. Complete lack of privacy.
The restaurants are understaffed. Place an order and wait at least 45 mins for it. Breakfast was chaos. They have one poor chef catering to the crowd, manning the egg counter, pancakes, dosa etc etc. There is no process. 4 waiters will take your order and you will most certainly get what you did not ask for!!
The staff are friendly and ever ready to help. We would like to thank them for making our stay reasonably tolerable.

I went to Goa for the first time with my family (wife and four year old son). I had to book a room in advance for 3 nights and 4 days to avoid any inconvenience as my last night was falling on weekend. My wife wanted to stay right on beach in North Goa I found only The Park Calangute Goa suitable for us after going through all the reviews in Tripadvisor and my previous experiences with Park Hotels in Kolkata & Visakhapatnam. We reached the hotel on 2nd afternoon. The room (deluxe room on first floor) was very good and with all amenities even if not so spacious. But it is not just the room which made our vacation so special. The contemporary "all white" design of the boutique property was so unique. The pool and the poolside was one of the best I have ever seen. The Peace Bar & the Love restaurant overlook the sea and it was an awesome feeling to have a breathtaking view of the sunset from Peace bar sipping a beer. The bartender Arjun is expert in mixing drinks and mixing with people too. The GM Sourav is a nice gentleman and attends the guests personally. The room service, house keeping and the restaurant all were above satisfaction. I highly recommend this property.

It was our honeymoon trip and we chose to stay with The Park (given it's brand name). Though it's a bit distant from the airport but as soon as we reached the hotel all our exhaustion just vanished. The colour theme (all white with touches of solid bold colours) was very soothing to the eyes and had a classy look. The lady at the front desk was very swift and we didn't have to wait long. We had our room on the first floor. We were welcomed with a honeymoon decor in the room. The room was clean and quite spacious. The staffs were courteous. The best part was the poolside which had a very aesthetic touch to it. The restaurant had variety of dishes, one can choose according to his/her taste. We stuck to the conventional platters. Breakfast was buffet and the other meals were ala carte.

Negatives: The bathroom and the toilet were interconnected which doesn't give privacy. The exterior of the hotel on the beach hampers it's beauty a bit. It could be well maintained and made into a private beach.

We had a very good experience overall. And we are really thankful to the staffs to make our honeymoon a memorable one.

Positives: Good, central location. Access to one of the most happening (but crowded) beaches in North Goa - Calangute. Friendly, hospitable staff who are willing to go the extra mile.

Negatives - Really badly designed hotel. Doesn't even have a proper driveway to the entrance (its just a narrow passage to the beach and you can't even reverse your vehicle, gotta put it in reverse gear and drive all the way back to the main entrance, god forbid if you have a few vehicles behind you in a queue).
The theme color of the hotel is white. From Linen to curtains to sofa to floor to wood work to tables, every single thing is white in color. And anybody with some common sense can tell you that white gets dirty very soon in Indian conditions and more so when you are cheek by jowl to a sandy beach. The housekeeping staff can try all they might but can't keep the dirt and sand away. So after a while all that white starts to stain and look ugly yellow.
Bathroom and the WC are sort of interconnected so while you are having a shower you can peek over to check out how your room mate looks while defecating. There is no privacy for the person showering or for the person crapping. The back side of the bed post in the room is essentially the wash basin and the grooming mirror. So while you are sleeping your partner will be brushing his teeth and washing his face right behind your head.
Swimming pool is very small. 5 people get in the pool it begins to look like an overflowing bath tub. Pool is also not well maintained. There was no smell of chlorine in the water and the water itself was no longer colorless with all the accumulated dirt and filth and god knows what else. All of us broke out in rashes after taking our chance with the pool.
Food is very average. Service is extremely slow and forgetful in the restaurant (ironically its called "Love"). Every single day we had to remind multiple waiters many times even to get a serving of table butter.
There is no Spa in the hotel. They have a tie up with a Spa called Sitara somewhere in Sinquerim, which is a good 15 minutes drive away. Though the spa guys offer you a free pick up and drop.
We stayed on LEVEL 1 and all the room doors on that floor had full length pictures of hippie, junkie, heavily tattooed, body pierced type people on them. The hotel designer must have thought it be a cool, funky thing but frankly those pictures were really scary and nightmarish. When we checked in, our bed was not clean with hair lying all over it. We brought this to the notice of the housekeeping and they changed the sheets promptly.
The killer blow is that the hotel despite all these shortcomings is overly priced and does no justice to price-value equation. It would have worked out cheaper for us to stay at a proper 5 star hotel like Taj Holiday Village (Vivanta) where you can expect that atleast the basics would be taken care of.

Verdict - I would give this property 1.5 on 5 stars. Stay at this hotel only if you loads of money to spare, are dying to be in Calangute and are not bothered about quality and amenities the hotel offers.

Room Tip: Do not take the room facing the sea or the pool during summers as the setting sun will scorch the da...

So the reason I chose this hotel was because I wanted to be in a beach facing hotel for 3 nights, upper budget range, but in North Goa. And, believe me, this was the only option. Coming to the property, they have chosen white (like Greece) as the hotel theme color, which is very difficult to pull off on a beach, and it shows very evidently. The hotel is on the beach but they have no private beach, so you immediately hit the shacks and dirt. I asked for an iron one day, and was asked to share it with my colleague who was in another room! They had a white guy at the reception in early morning hours and he had some attitude problems with me (Indian) initially :D Gym is tiny, more like something you'd like to construct at home. I enjoyed, as I used to be all by myself, and would also play my own music there! Pool is larger and nice. No spa. Choose this only if you get no other option, like the case was for me.

Room Tip: Unless you take the super deluxe pool facing rooms (they have only 2), rest have no view :)

Dear Guest,

On behalf of the entire team at The Park Calangute, Goa, I would like to thank you for your stay and for your feedback.

We are disappointed that you didnot enjoy your stay here. None of the beaches in India are private beaches and North Goa beaches do have shacks on them during the season.

I have also tried getting in touch with you to get some more details about the other issues you mentioned but have not got a revert. I look forward to getting in touch personally to understand your feedback about my colleague.
