“Enjoyed our 4wks stay here”
Reviewed 15 January 2010

Arrived on 8th Dec for 4wks over xmas & new year. Had a good direct flight. with Thomsons arriving on time, and got through the airport without any hassle. iBooked taxi from booth inside airport to Callangute R675. Arrived hotel 9am, to be told room wasnt ready, so went and got some breakfast. Went to reception 10am got room keys and luggage boys took us to room 1st floor up 3 lots of stairs. I took 1 look and said no way could i stay there. The wetroom {bathroom} was allmouldy onthe walls, and it was like a dungeon, so dark &small. I went back to reception to inform them , they were ever so nice about it and said we could have one on ground floor, {which i had req. hasi have breathingproblems} but it wasnt empty yet and had tobe cleaned. It would be about 2pm. when we could look. So being very tired after our journey, and not being able to change out of our clothes, we laid on a sunbed in the shade and had a sleep. By 2,30 we were ready to lookat the room, A2, sowhoknows it was much bigger than the other one. Alarge lounge, Bedroom & wetroom, it wasnt spotless, the doors in wetroom and bedroom were ful of mould. Any way we took it and o.h. cleaned it we thought we are going tohave toget use to it.. It took us a few days but eventually we settled in, and enjoyed our stay. Our room boy Ivo was anice lad, and madeus some lovely decos on bed everyday. It wqs my birthday whilst there and he did a cake out of towels put b.card on and ballons all round the bedroom. We asked him tochange curtains as they were flithy, and he did.We got used to all the staff & found them all very friendly . The food & drinks are cheapas chips. we ate in a few times & was very nice. The staff went to a lot of trouble decorating for xmas, it was very nice. The xmas and new year eve. very boring . So we went out to the beach to watch the fireworks, it was brill.but very busy. I got birthday cake from staff. The hotel is in a brill.position, close toeverything you want. Not noisy even being on roadside. After our months stay and meeting some lovely people in hoteland friends from last year, we didnt want tocome home. We weill def. stay here again, even if it has neg.points. we wouldlike tostay for2months next time, who knows. Sheila & jimmy

The hotel is very central to the beach, and there is alot of shopping all around the hotel.
The room i had, was very poor (D2) moist, bad smell, no hot water. They did not change the bed the entire week. On the good side, there was no bugs and fairly clean. the coolere was working and so did the tv ( when they found the remote)
The included breakfast is just white bread and the/ coffee/hot milk.

If you are a super low budget traveler, this can work..but take a look for your self, and if it does not work for you, there is tons of others on the beach and around. Happy traveling :)

We were group of 10 people and we stayed there for 3 days 2 nights. we have taken 3 rooms and tarriff was very good. One good thing about this hotem is it food menu. U will find all the good variety food with comparative price and yummy....

I stayed at the Ticlo in Nov/Dec 2009, and first impressions weren't good. But over the 2 weeks I stayed there the place grew on me.

The rooms are basic but are cleaned every day, and big for the price you pay. There are 2 rooms with a sitting room and bedroom. there is a fridge which is refilled every day, with water and beer, and the prices are very low, sometimes lower than in some of the bars.

there is a tv in the bedroom, which doesn't have a charge.

the staff are great, and it is worth getting to know Josh, as he is lovely, unlike other hotels (such as the Osborne) they are happy to help without the expectation of a tip, and it was great to see that all tips were paced in the tip box and shared equally amongst the staff, so you didn;t see waiters trying to keep the best tippers to themselves.

The pool is only small, but with beaches close by this isn't a problem, and if you are desperate for a pool walk down to paradise beach and use their pool instead, there is a charge of about 100 rupees, but if you walk up from the beach you can get around this. but as most shacks charge for sunbeds anyway there is not much difference in paying for the pool.

the Ticlo has entertainment on every night, but with fantastic food on the doorstep you don't want to be staying in the hotel - try Wilson's a shack just off Calangute beach which has the best tiger prawns for next to nothing- it can be reached behind the bus station. also try the tree house where you can get a full chicken tandori for 150 rupees.

Also try the Palm Tree and say hello to Max and ask him about the monkey sanctuary.

I have just come back from my holiday in India and it was amazing. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It is a perfect location, close to Calangute beach and Baga along with Candolim are within easy walking distance.

The Ticlo was an excellent hotel, it was clean and the staff were beyond helpful and friendly. Particually Joshi and Deva.
The hotel food was exceptional. You get free tea and toast for breakfast and you can pay for extras such as eggs at a minimal charge. I paid around 40pence for two eggs every morning.

The pool was kept very clean and was maintained with chlorine every day and it has a life guard and they also provide towels.

It was my boyfriends birthday whilst we were at the hotel and the owner, Glen even bought him a cake - which we thought was a very nice touch.

The rooms are basic - dont expect anything more than a couple of chairs and a basic thin matress with a wooden solid bed. But they are kept clean and the maid is very inventive with the towels and bed linen making them into all sorts of shapes.

The only negative to Goa is the traffic, it is a little bit hectic and pedestrains dont seem to have any right of way. So be careful on the roads - but in saying that they will give you plenty of warning as they seem to constanly use their horns in goa! Most amuzing and you quickley get used to it.

The food in Goa is amazing and very cheap. Would highly recommend the Tree house, turn left out of the hotel and follow it round the bend. Half way down this road you will find the restaurant tucked away up on the left. We had two starters, three mains and drinks all for 700 pupees which is about £9 at most and the food is outstanding.

All round amazing place and the people are so so friendly. Make sure you haggle with locals for any purchases. They always aim high initially! But if you work with tyhem you can get some really good deals.

I would recommend this location and hotel highly, I will be going back and lots of people have been going back to this hotel for the past 10 years, one guy has even lived in the hotel for the past 8 years!!! The proof is in the pudding as they say.

Our Ticlos experience was average. We had a living room & bedroom with attached balcony. Rooms were not the cleanest, we even saw some cockroaches in the living room. But we were on a short trip and hardly spent any time in the room, so did not bother much. Besides, staff was friendly, breakfast was reasonable, pool was decent and the FABULOUS Infanteria was right opposite. Price was very reasonable as it was very early in the season. Suitable budget hotel if you're not going to spend much time there and just looking for a place to crash at night.
