“Min Chong Hygenic Ice Cafe @ Jalan Bunga Raya”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

The issue of which is the best Cendol in Melaka, will always be an unsettled one. Some like their gula melaka thick and gooey but others theirs smooth and sweet. Some like their shaved ice smooth and others like it rough. Some prefer kidney beans while others prefer mushy red beans.
I like the way Min Chong does it. Min Chong is a 50+ year old establishment run by the second generation owner (and probably be the last to manage it, as his children have other plans). It is situated at Jalan Bunga Raya, where Mimosa Hotel and Madam King are located but on the opposite side of the road, and nearer to the start of the road. Min Chong's cendol is served with fine shaved ice, sweet and smooth gula Melaka, mushy red beans and a balanced portion of coconut milk (besides the cendol itself). You can ask for more gula melaka if you have a sweeter tooth. They served other Malaysian desserts including Ice Pak Po, ABC, Ice Jelly etc. If you are still hungry and want something savoury to accompany your cendol, you can try their rojak.

“Unique and refreshing”
Reviewed 18 July 2013

This is a classic case of local cuisine adapting to the local weather. The cendol absolutely cools you down in a jiffy. Walking in the hot melaka sun, the cendol is a good palliate. And it tastes delicious too. Not too sweet as well. Do try this.

“sweet galore”
Reviewed 13 June 2013

Cendol everywhere...guess it the dessert that made it name from the nonya tradition.....try out those that are offered in the authentic nonya/peranakan eateries for the authentic taste with large red beans
