We stayed here towards the beginning of January 2014 and I have to say that not only was it a great place to say in Melaka; but you wish you could take it with you.

Where to start? The people I guess...we were so well looked after by Tutu and the gang that it really made all a difference. We got the where to go and where to avoid all marked up on a map I got from the tourist centre (3 mins walk away). This was the bible to Melaka, and not only did we learn a lot, but we also ate like locals.

That does bring me on to food I guess. As for the food at Cafe 1511, you'd be hard pushed to find much better. The laksa for breakfast...there is no better way to start your day. Not even when I'm typing this in the UK. It really was the best we found on our whole trip. Then there's the Popiah. Again another winner. We loved these and ate plenty. I have to say that they were the best we found!!

I guess I should say something about the rooms and location. The rooms were spotless and well kept, and they have a water cooler to fill up your bottles which is a great help in the heat. The bathrooms were always clean and in great condition. So what's not to love!

It is worth noting that the building is built in typical style with two massive open areas allowing air to flow throughout the hotel so that it does not ever get stuffy.

Finally as for location it is situated on Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock. This is one road over from the major road that runs through China Town. It really is the best place as it's centra, but out of the way enough that you feel like you have escaped the madness of the old town.

I cannot recommend this place higher.

We checked in late at night and there was no one to open the door. We dialed the number posted and talked to the owner. Just 5minutes later, Kee welcomed us with the keys! =))
We really liked Kee as he was very warm and welcoming. He gave us lots of tourist tips.

When we got inside, we were so impressed by the feel and ambiance of the place. We love it already! Kee gave us the Otak room which is just right for us. Coffee is free. There's a laundry area for backpackers who dont have enough clothes (like me :) ) The water pressure in the shower is excellent , free body wash! Fast wifi. Room not too cold or hot. =) Lots of books and DVDs!

The next morning, we decided to try out their cafe and ordered continental breakfast. When we were about to pay, we found out that it's for free!! It was an amazing feeling (we were too stressed with the Hostels we stayed in prior to Cafe 1511) and we really appreciate it.

Cafe 1511 felt like home. :) We'll definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Call them first if you're checking in late

Enjoyed our stay there. Definitely value for money, especially if you are looking for a stay in a rather quaint place.

However, do request for a less noisy room, that is not facing the front street.
It is a busy street and has inconsiderate drivers/trishaw drivers playing loud music.

Love their breakfast - ask for their assam laksa

A very pleasant stay overall. The room was clean, comfortable and airy. Staff were friendly. Common bathrooms were satisfactory. Asam laksa was delicious. Good location. Only drawbacks were poor wifi and squeaky beds.

We only stayed one night during the Malacca Arts Festival, but would have been happy to stay longer. The room was large enough, the bed firm, nice decorations and A/C ! I think there are only 8 rooms, so not much congestion at the 3 very clean toilet/shower/basin cubicles.

Friendly staff, a reasonable breakfast selection, very reasonable price and superb location in the heart of Old Malacca all combine for a good stay. After many trips to Malacca, it is now our top pick of lodging.

Room Tip: Our "Otak" room was windowless, but was also perfectly quiet. Rooms in the front have good...

This is a quaint little place to stay. It actually is, the old servant's quarters of the stately house (now the Baba Nonya museum) next door, so the building is actually well over a hundred years old. There are several art pieces decorating Cafe 1511 - some of them quite remarkable actually.

The wooden floors can be a little creaky, but add a sense of warmth to the place. The rooms are very clean and so are the loos. Stick to the local food when you eat at the cafe, though. Continental and English breakfasts aren't their thing. The location is excellent, with everything just a few minutes away. If you do get lost, it's super easy to find because of the popular landmark next door.

the place is few blocks away from chinatown which you don't need to far away if you seeking some crowd.
food and bars are plenty in the area.
5min walk to Stadthuys.

first floor is admin/staff and cafe area, the food was good!
second floor is the guest rooms are, be ready for narrow steps.
the floor are made from kind of wood. you can hear your neighbors footsteps passing by.
WiFi internet access is hard to reach inside the room.
the public bathrooms are clean.

it is a good place to learn "peranakan" culture.
