I stayed in Mahkota Hotel Malacca on 20 Jul 14 for 2 day 1 night stay in a two room apartment. Upon checking out on 21 Jul and on my way out of Malacca town, I realized that my Budda Pendant was being left behind inside the hotel toilet. As I am too tired and also lazy to make a u turn, I decided to just leave it as it is. When I reach Singapore, I decided to drop a mail to Mahkota Hotel and to my surprise, the hotel got back to me within 1 day and told me that the item is found. Amazing and well done Mahkota Hotel.

Room Tip: A two room apartment is more value for money.

We travelled with 2 kids and the apartment was 2 bedrooms. Lots of space and the pools were excellent. Across the road from mahkota square. The furniture is a little tired but the rooms were clean. The variety of cable on the TV was also not great compared to other hotels. The food at the cafe was ok. This accommodation is well priced but quite simple.

Hotel is badly furnished. Yellow water flows out of the taps and toilet bowls. Furniture is in bad condition, with the bed sheets stained with yellow marks.

The TV has bad reception and wifi signal keeps on dropping.

The air con is loud and noisy, with little cold air. Fans had to be turned on for better ventilation.

Am definitely not coming back here ever!!!

Room Tip: Don't stay here ever!!

We viewed and booked this hotel on line as it looked very promising. Arriving in the taxi it still looked promising. At the reception desk it looked promising when the receptionist asked us whether we wanted a beach view or swimming pool view room. Opting for a beach view room we got into the elevator to find our room and from there on everything went down hill. The elevator smelt terrible. Got to the room and what they called a beach view is acres and acres of reclaimed land covered in rubbish with a tiny glimpse of the water in the distance at high tide. Turned on the air conditioning and got what sounded more like a jumbo jet taking off and very little cold air coming out. We had to leave it running all the time we were out during the day to return to what was a barely tolerable temperature. At night we had to have either a hot room or a very noisy one, neither conducive to a good nights sleep. The housekeeping staff cleaned the room but didn't leave us any towels and it took countless calls and visits to reception to try and locate some.It took 5 hours and us refusing to leave the reception desk until we got them. The room door needed to be slammed to enable us to shut it, the bathroom door wouldn't close and the door on the TV cabinet was hanging askew. The old CRT TV had very few channels to chose from. This hotel was obviously very grand in its day but needs some very serious money spending on it. The one bright light on our 3 night stay was the swimming pool/s. The pool staff there were very very good and friendly. The location is handy to most everything but we wouldn't stay there again. There are much better choices available.

Room Tip: If you have to stay here ask for a pool view room not a beach view

This place is always over booked and always so packed! There is always not enough parking lots. There were a number of cases where cars were stolen and towed away from the hotel. The hotel counter staffs were rude and snobbish. Probably because the hotel is always fully booked during holidays. I stayed in one of the 2 bedroom apartments. Good for family instead of having multiple hotel rooms. However, the facilities need to be maintained and they definitely need a revamp and upkeep of the room amenities.

Room Tip: Choose apartments nearer to the hotel lobby and higher floor rooms. As you will be parking your car at the very limited lots below, at least there are more eye balls nearer to the lobby area. The higher floors will be less noisy to screaming kids at the pool.
