Nothing good to say about this hotel. First room given, smelled dank and there were water stains everywhere.
Requested a room change, and next room was worse. Final room change and no better but it was too late by then. Water filter or something or other broke down in the building and the water coming out of all taps/toilets was brown. So slept unwashed in dirty street clothes on a dirty bed in a dirty room. HIGHLY and I mean HIGHLY overpriced. You can get the Ritz or Westin in KL for the same price!!!! That is absurd....
Never again.

This hotel is good for students like me with a budget!
i went with 3 other friends and we got a 2 bedroom apt.

The funniest thing was when we were told that our room was on the Level 1, we searched high and low for our apartment on the ground floor. We even inserted our room key into the door to the maintenance room to try our luck.

Until we were pointed out by some cleaner who was resting that we have to take a lift to Level 1!

We were happy with the room as it was spacious!
but we were utterly grossed with the yellow water flowing out from the basin tap. Lucky for us, the water from the shower is clear. And the yellowish water cleared in the evening.

The other thing that i must mention is that there is only one hotel entrance at the front and back. And as we crossed the road from Mahkota Parade, we have to walk lik 15mins under the hot sun to locate the entrance to the hotel!

If you are not picky, then its worth the money.

I found some of the other reviews bang on as we had a remarkably similar experience (except for the poor family that had to climb out of the damaged lift - they win the prize for worst Mahkota experience in my view!!) Basically, if we did not have to be there for business...we would have left.

On arrival to our room in the "lovely" Sunflower block, after recovering from the smell of mould and must that hit us, we read the security warnings. Following this, we tried the safe - No Go. The door bolt was also faulty. Called reception - no answer. Bathroom light didn't work. Fortunately one of our colleagues had the reverse problem, his bathroom light would not turn off!!! Bath curtain stained yellowish brown - most likely by the urine coloured water, which incidently was enough to stop either of us showering during our 2 night stay. Toilet initially flushed, however it stopped performing this function part way through day one. This resulted in having to remove lid to cistern in order to add the very yellow tap water from bathroom sink to achieve a flush. Upon doing this, the bathroom tap refused to turn off!! One can only imagine my delight! The air con worked in the bedroom thankfully, however it sounded like you were sleeping underneath an icecream truck! The general feel of the room was old, probably mid eighties eastern block Russia, black grout between the tiles....you know... the usual happy holiday relaxing feel you want.

We were lucky enough to have a sea view, which consisted of a tidal estuary littered with tyres & general rubbish. Looked more like a stagnant swamp at low tide.

Fortunately we were travelling with colleagues that could laugh a lot about the state of this hotel, which we did while listening to the fasinating Filipino hair flipping lady band in the bar while drinking extensively each night in a bid to try and get to sleep! Wish I had read some of these comments before sleeping in the very short bed.... I now wonder what I may have caught following these 2 nights in Melaka.

Good luck to anyone staying here, I would advise taking a tent and putting it up in the carpark..believe me...you will appreciate this more.

We checked in at 2pm, the receptionist told us that the room was not ready but they still passed us the key for us to put the luggage inside the room.

The room was not too bad, although the room looked old, but generally the cleanliness is ok. The hotel is doing re-printing now. We stayed at the sunflower block. Location is good, very near to big shopping centre and 10 min walk to Jonker street.

Breakfast buffet is so so, not much variety. Nasi lemak, fried noodle, ham and egg.

With the price paid for the hotel stay, we were quite satisfied with the overall delivered standard. Not as bad as what the other reviewers have mentioned.

First of all, Checking in was fast because we came in at 1.30ish in the afternoon (just a few guests checking in). We booked a 2-room apartment facing a shopping mall (I think it was the Mahkota Parade, didn't manage to go, tight schedule).

Anyway, our apartment was quite pleasant - clean, spacious, airy, great view of the malacca landscape, kitchen with basic cooking hob & fridge, very cold airconditioning, large 32" LCD TV in large living area, simple bathrooms (2) with hot&cold water (The water's clear and doesn't smell, bcos we had some experiences on our travels - yellow, murky or coloured water flowing out).

We had a quick snack at the coffeehouse (Cafe Mahkota), tasty local and western cuisine (no complaints at competitive prices). Had a quick look around the hotel...2 large pools.

I think its location is one of its best advantage - close to most of malacca's historical sites...all within walking distance.

Overall, we would come again and recommend friends and family here.

The hotel lobby looks ok enough, but before i stepped into the lift, i noticed that the lift looks so run down and the carpet is of mouldy color.

the corridor looks dirty and when i open the door, i was so shocked by the state of the hotel room. there is a kitchen area that looks like it hasn't been cleaned, the living room floor looks dusty and the balcony door can't even be closed fully. The main aircon looks like its crying out for maintenance black and dirty.

The first thing i check is the bedsheets, on the surface it looks clean, the horror came when i flipped over the bed covers and found stain-liked dots on the bedsheet. I became so paranoid that i decided to take a smell at the pillow covers, To my HORROR, it smelt like someone had slept on it for a while!!!!

The shower taps is loose and out came yellowish color water. The entire hotel room have a stale air and thankfully i was so tired that i just prayed hard that i can sleep through the night and check out the very first thing the next morning!!!

I WILL NOT RETURN TO THIS HOTEL EVER again!!!! even if its FREE STAY!

Stayed over from 5-6 June in a 2 bedroom apartment on the 3rd level with the room facing the highway. The room was hugh and even come with a 32" LED TV. We were faced with yellowish water coming from the tap. Next the aircon compressor located outside the window was so loud that make us wonder whether any maintenance was done at all. Half way through the night, the master bedroom electricity supply suddenly got cut off and the only light that come into the bedroom was through the street light across the building. We could hear the roaring of the motorcyle along the highway and the sound of people talking even with the window all closed. Thank goodness we are there only for one night stay.
