“Equatorial Melaka - Premier Room”
Reviewed 22 August 2012

Newly refurbish room. Clean and cosy. Just nice for 2A and 2C.
Buffet breakfast rated good as well.
Chicken porridge was good.
Hotel strategically located near many historical sites within walking distance. There are also trishaw ride in front of hotels to bring you around town. Across the road are Jonkers Street which have variety of local food and there are singing and opera session by the local community folks.

Room Tip: The premier has an additional bench chair near the window which is good enough for a child to have a...

Had a one night stay. Check in was smooth and they allowed us early check in when we reached at about 1pm. Room is clean and basic bathroom items such as shampoo and body wash are available for use. 2 bottles of water are also included. Only vibe is wifi is not available in the room but we had somehow tapped into a free open network available.

Bed is comfortable and the tv has an average selection of channels. The small balcony attached to the room is a plus; can open it and stand at the small balcony to enjoy the view of the Malacca Strait.

There is a big shopping mall just 1 minute away from the hotel. But it is a further 15 minute walk to the main Jonker street and the church.

Morning newpaper is available at your doorstep and the buffet breakfast is not bad. Overall, an excellent hotel to stay, unless you have an issue with the walking distance to Jonker Street.

We were accommodated in a Premier room on the 20th floor and found the room very comfortable. The 3 adults fitted in with ease and there was adequate space to move around without bumping into each other. Whilst I found the bed comfortable, my wife and sister-in-law found them a little on the hard side. The view would have been spectacuar except for the heavy haze caused from the smoke from forest fires across the Straits. The breakfast was passable, although for a tropical location would have expected to see a wider variety of fruit. We all enjoyed the pool and poolside furniture enabled us to relax after a full day of touring. The staff we both friendly and helpful at all times and made us very welcome. Will be passing on our views to friends and look forward to a return visit to the hotel and Melaka.

Room Tip: The location of the hotel is perfect for shopping and ease of getting around all the tourist spots.

Staffs with very poor attitute. Late check in and raised voices when questioned. Normal facilities and food. Had a shopping mall next to it but not joined. I would never go back to this hotel again, ever.

We stayed in two club rooms over the weekend in mid-July. The hotel is very pleasant and the rooms a good size and comfortable. The restaurant is not great however as it tends to depend on the ubiquitous buffet meals. The hotel is not the closest to the historic centre but it is only a short walk away. The staff was agreeable and helpful.

The Premier room was definitely cosy, clean and well furnish. Staff are friendly too. The hotel is surrounded by a few shopping malls and great variety of food around the corner. Well as this is not a business trip, internet is not FOC,it comes with 2 different charges for internet usage (60 mins or 24hours rate).

Just returned from Melaka tonight and the hotel Equatorial is a decent choice. We were pleasantly surprised with the Club Room. Very Spacious, and decent bed, however the bedding looked somewhat dirty. The bathroom is large and comes with all the amenities you need.

We were on the 13th floor in both of the clubs rooms and had a great view of the city. We were quite happy to know we had access to the Club Room but were disappointed at the "lack of cocktails." It was just beer and wine, which is okay for me but my guest doesn't drink either. We had to flag down a server to bring the wine/beer both nights but the first night, it was a madhouse.

Not the hotel's fault, but why do people think free appetizers means free dinner? The hotel guests bellied up to the trough and ate like they hadn't seen food since July. Hardly left anything for the non-gorging guests. We were worried the breakfast would be the same in the Club Room but were pleasantly surprised it was fairly quiet. After listening to kids with the squeekers in the sandals that every single parent seems to think we all enjoy hearing....we were also happy to see a server "SSSHHH" a kid that was running around. Keep your kid out of the Club Room if they have no manners. It is meant for Happy Hour...not Running, Screaming, and Banging the Computer Hour.

All and all, pretty decent hotel. The pool has nice loungers, a tennis court, a few restaurants, great location, decent breakfast...just wish cocktails meant cocktails as it does in other restaurants.

Room Tip: Get a Club Room - very spacious and allows you access for free internet and Appetizers in the Execut...
