“Beautiful colonial hotel with beautiful garden”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

The Hotel is right in the middle of the center close to Jonker street. The garden inside is lovely to sit down.

When we entered our room we found out the the room was not cleaned as you expected. We made a notification at the reception and within 5 minutes and without any discussion, we had another, clean room. It's always posible that somethings happens, the question is how to solve it and they did a very good job.

My father and I stayed in this hotel in August. This was my third stay. It is a beautiful boutique hotel in the old town and in a restored Peranakan Chinese house. It is beautifully decorated. The staff are helpful. Our room was the cheapest, a twin bedded room, but had all the comforts we needed. Excellent shower! The staff helped us organize our trip back to Kuala Lumpur. The buffet-style breakfasts were very nice and we enjoyed the omelets and scrambled eggs. We ate in the restaurant for lunch and it was good. I do think they could afford to offer a smoking area. There are lots of suitable places in the grounds. Several guests were smokers and had to sit outside in the narrow street. Of course, there may be some local ordinance that prohibits smoking. However, I would still rate the hotel as 5 stars. I will stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a window. Be mindful that there are 3 floors and there is no lift, so if you hav...

This nice hotel is just a street behind the famous Jonker Street that has night market on every Friday to Sunday night. I stayed at a twin room here on a Friday night. Just a walking distance to enjoy the interesting night market but without any noise when you sleep. Other than the reason of convenience of visiting sighseeings in Melaka, I chose here because the building orignally is a Chinese Baba Nyonya Villa. Their decoration keeps this style. I wanna to try such experience in this ancient city. The room size is not so big but o.k. What I like mos is to have buffet breakfast at thier garden and feel the ancient villa atmosphere. Will stay here again to read a book in thier garden in a lazy summer afternoon in future.

Room Tip: Suggest to choose hotel at lower floor because NO lift at this old building.

Not what I was expecting from the reviews. The hotel foyer had character but the rest of the hotel needs work. Our room was furnished with ply board furniture reminiscent of institutional furniture of the 60s. The staff at reception were offhand and bored. The breakfasts dishes were over heated and not replenished unless specifically requested. It was a pretty underwhelming experience altogether. Location of the hotel is good hut unfortunately everything in the vicinity of the hotel in the old town had ground to a halt due to a religious holiday so we could find no restaurants to eat in, they were either closed, had run out of food, were too full and were short staffed, meaning a lengthy delay in service. We ate every day of our 4 days in melaka at the shopping mall ... Pretty uninspiring.

Great location just a street back from the action packed Jonker street but quiet, spacious and comfortable rooms. Cost is probably a little high but the quality of the hotel, which has many museum type artefacts through its ground floor make it an interesting stay! 4/5 from me.

The Puri hotel is a nice hotel in the city-centre of Melaka. The hotel is quite big, but you would not expect this when entering the hotel. In the past it was a Chinese Baba Nyonya Villa and now it is still very nice decorated. The rooms are of average space and not very big, our bathroom was really very small. We only stayed there for one night, so this was not such a big problem. The area around the hotel is very nice with lots of restaurants and shops. Melaka has a huge history, so there are many things to see in Melaka. We only stayed one night in Melaka, but we could easily spend another day/night in Melaka.
