“Excellent and worth visiting”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

We visited here on a Sunday morning and luckily just made it for the English tour. The house is fantastic and a great insight into this part of Melakas history. The guide was really good and informative.

The only downside was a ban on photos.

What a beautifull house/museum! It gives a very good impression of how the rich Baba and Nonya lived in that period. Let's hope this beautifull house will be preserved for future generations.

“What a house!”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

I highly recommend a visit to the museum, which is actually a house that has been converted. The house is beautiful - really exquisite furniture and pieces that have still been maintained. The staff is a bit dull, but the house itself more than makes up for it.

“Must Visit!”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

This tour gives a complete insight of the history of Baba Nyonya in Melaka. It mainly covers the way Baba Nyonya lived their lives, their culture and traditions. The house itself is very interesting. The guide is very good and she would explain each part of the house in detail. For chinese descent myself, I gain some new insights on how my ancestors used to live their lives. Definitely a must-visit.

“Explore Malaysia's Ethnicity”
Reviewed 23 July 2014 via mobile

This wonderful museum in a old Baba Nyonya merchant's house shows the early tolerance of Malaysia's society. Baba Nyonya are a mixed race culture of Chinese and Malaysian who became very prominent business leaders in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The museum offers a beautiful glimpse into the daily lives of the family and the well-preserved rooms and artifacts show how prosperous the family is and was. I was touched by the fact that a few current family photos were lined up on one of the sideboards, a testament to the fact that the family-line continues today.
