Very well kept museum with many baba and nonya pieces collected over many generations.

You just got to see this museum to fully appreciate the nonya culture.

I have been to this museum a few times whenever I have outstation visitors. This museum gives you a glimpse of the glorious past of rich Peranakan lifestyle which is now history in the modern age of convenience and comfort.

The visitor room features impressive chinese art paintings and antique furniture. You can take a close look at the finely crafted wall partition and put your hand on the stone-cool marble table which serves one of this purpose.

The second floor is for living rooms and tea rooms. You can find a mixture of locally crafted Peranakan items and imported stuff from England. Notice that the second floor has a door lock on the staircase to prevent burglars from entering the house and there is a hole on the master bedroom to spot visitors at the door. The air well in the middle of the house and the kitchen is worth looking at.

Please join the guided tour to hear the details of daily life of Peranakan in this house. Be prepared however that one of the chubby tour guide is very grumpy and show no interest in whatever she is reciting!

One of the biggest complaint of the museum is lack of air conditioning. However, I feel that we should be able to feel the actual living condition of those in the past.
