I am a big fan of Malacca Histories. And yes, this is also a must-visit place. We climbed up to the hill and you are able to witness partly Malacca and the straits view. Cool place up there and take your own sweet time to enjoy the view.

“The picture says it all”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

The picture already shown shows the entire fort, except for one wall facing the river. There is not a lot else here to see...

“An ancient fort that has so much history but is overrun by tourists”
Reviewed 23 March 2014

A fomosa fort was an 18th century Portuguese fortress that was later overrun by the Dutch and used by the Dutch. Later in the 19th century when Malaya fell under British Colonial rule did Malacca and the old fortress became under the British Rule.

The old fortress is not that high up the hill and it is amazing testament to the craftsmen that it still stands till this day.

Unfortunately, there are hardly any guides that will tell you the history of the fortress and the interior of the fortress has been overrunned by merchants hawking cheap touristy stuff that they even have their stalls and wares next to the tomb epitaph stones which not only is disrespectful but cheapens the place.

“Very Small”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

The ruins of this fort are very small, but for the age of them, they are quite well preserved. Many attractions like this are usually fenced off for protection, but this one is very open to the public. You can walk through it and touch anything you want. Good photo opportunities but get there early to beat the passing crowds.
