“Malaka trip on 09 & 10 Nov 13”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

Not a steep climb. When we reached red square and asked for route to St. Paul's hill, a local shopkeeper directed us to cordonned off entrance to Stadhuys. We were hesitant to enter it. It later turned out to be a very easy approach to the top of St Paul's hill. It is not really a hill, just a small mound.

Visited on 10 Novermber 2013. Good time to visit is 8AM to 9AM when there will be lesser crowd. It was drizzling when we visited and there weren't many tourists around at that time.

“Interesting Historical Site”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

My wife and I had a chance to tour the old city areas during a visit. The St Paul ruins gave a nice place to visit with a great view and a really nice hike up the hill. The church has lots of tombstone inscriptions inside the shell of the building in old English and other languages. The hike and the view made it one of our favorite places to visit - the humidity notwithstanding.

“Pretty but nothing special”
Reviewed 30 October 2013 via mobile

A lot of the architecture in Melaka is really beautiful and well worth seeing and photographing. St Paul's just felt a little excessively touristy and over rated. All around the area are stalls selling tshirts and key rings and it just felt a little bit like they were taking advantage of an area that could be a lot more attractive if it weren't for all the tables full of rubbish and people chanting about what they are selling! We were slightly let down by this UNESCO heritage site to be honest! It is pretty though.

“Worth The Climb”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

Its well worth the climb up a number of steps to this old church ruin passing along the way old Dutch cemetery.
The ruins are well cared for
there are a number of very large headstones inside the old church which give you an insight into the lives of the Dutch Worshipers Also the view over the Melaka Straits from the hill is spectacular
