“Christ Church”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

This is the iconic part of Melaka. The heavily decorated Trishaws make the place colourful. In the day, there are lots of 'hawkers' who sell their wares around the area - lots of souvenirs, tee-shirts. The Church sells souvenirs too and the money collected goes into the Church Fund - it costs a lot less to buy a souvenir from the Church & for a good cause too!
At night, the opposite side of the street comes alive over the weekends - Jonker Street Night Market.

“Bask In The Poluted Center Of Melaka”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

Oh the air, it's so fresh, except it isn't. Especially in this place, where it's considered the "center" of Melaka where almost all the touristy places are located. Which means it's congested to the limit if you are visiting during the holidays.

Seriously, the government here NEEDS to close the entire area down and only let public transport to enter during the big holiday seasons. Cars are stuck here for hours because the place is so tight and narrow and not enough parking spaces. Not to mention it's packed with people.

It's hot, it's polluted and it smells of sweat and carbon dioxide.

“Just a normal church ”

To be honest, nothing special for this attraction. However, most of the attractions are next to each other, so if you pass by, just take a photo.

There are worship services being held every Sunday even to this day! Cool! English Service 8:30 (with Holy Communion). People very friendly. Nice to be able to enjoy this old building as it was intended even till this day.

“A Place to pray and reflect”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

Listen this is a religious place so there overall theme will be Christian. As this place is famous like many European sites , there are people selling icons and items for keepsakes.Just think you are in a European city.To get here from Melaka bus station( out of state buses) there is an affordable bus service( blue bus) Do not get ripped off by the taxis. The street is one way and so for the return journey either walk through the other lanes or wait at the same stop that you got off. There is a Big Postoffice next door.
Back to the Church itself. There are excellent postcards produced by the Church and so is a revenue generation for the Church. The architecture is based on the talent of that period.
There are other excellent items.Around the Church area there are gaily painted trishaws with modern music.A nice place to visit and then you can see other parts of Melaka.
