liked the atmosphere and the culture you see there. they sell all sorts of stuff not seen anywhere else. however, be there early if you dont want to be caught in a massive crowd. say about 5.30pm?

An excellent place to get all souvenirs of Melaka and perhaps other places in Malaysia.Try to get all the states of Malaysia on key chains or bottle openers. There are playing cards , coins, view cards folding fans and what not from this place.
There are lowered prices.I heard there are night markets too.I have only shopped in the day time.
You must realise that Melaka is so near to Indonesia and hence there is that crowd too.It is treat to be here.

This is a typical market but still interesting. A visit to Melaka would not be complete without a walk through the markets. We bought a few unique second hand items for very reasonable prices.

I wonder why it's so crowded. Penang's heritage area is so much nicer and yet, the crowd is not as much as here's. Nothing much to explore as it's so crowded. You can't even take a decent photo of yourself. And the most ridiculous thing, all the restaurants and eateries here are always having long queue and the food's taste sucks (and it's expensive). The most famous Char Koay Teow in Penang don't even have such a long queue....I wonder why. I am not trying to say Penang is good but I definitely will not make a comeback to this place for sure. You just can't relax yourself here.

in most asian tourists destinations you find similar night markets. if it's your first time you will be amused and excited by everything. but if you have been to a few this one is not better or worse. just another one. however, what makes it interesting is the beautiful buildings in the area. but they can be seen much better during the day. and if you visit on a saturday there is a much more local night market 4-7pm in kota laksamana a few streets south of jonker. great fruit stalls and even an ice cream lady selling very local flavours like durian. try it
