“Jonker Street - the heart of Melacca (Friday - Saturday nights)”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

Jonker Street is at the heart of Melacca and where everyone seems to congregate on Friday and Saturday nights when the markets are on. During the day its just another quiet street in China Town, but worth a visit if only for a sense of what it once was - the antique district. Friday nights the place is teeming - food stalls and hawkers selling every kind of knick knack imaginable. At the top end are Melacca's famous gaudy cyclos with flashing lights and blaring music. They're so outrageously loud (in every sense of the word) that they're an absolute must do.

“Bustling Night Market”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

Every Friday and Saturday night Jonker Street is lined with a myriad of stalls selling a wide variety of mainly tourist merchandise and street food. The shops behind the stalls are open every day and range from boutiques and restaurants to tourist items and other bric a brac. It is a very lively and interesting place on the weekends, but also worth a visit midweek.

“Highlight for any Malacca Trip”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

A must-see, must-visit for any Malacca trip. We always time our visit to catch this weekend street. Usually hot & crowded so top up on water & keep the kids close.
