“A Tank Needed”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

My friends and I went to Melaka for a 3 days 2 nights trip. Jonker Street was easy to access and there were many pretty shops and delicious food. Good for those who likes to take hipster photos (like us!) and those who has the stomach to devour the food! It was extremely crowded in the night because the night market is open then and it was a long weekend for both Singapore and Malaysia because of Hari Raya Puasa (some sort like a Muslim's New Year). Like what my title said, you need a tank to move through these people. I had fun because my company was great!

“Great shopping and cultural experience”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Take a stroll down Jonker street and experience a great heritage area with a mixture of local craft and tourist shops. For a difference go when the night market is on to try some excellent street food.

“Malacca in 27hours”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Malacca is great for the family and since we are so close to it in Singapore, its a must visit especially if you have a long weekend or in this case 27hours. Somehow, while trying to decide where to go for breakfast, we decided lunch in Malacca (or Melaka!) sounds good… http://kidsonboard.net/blog/photo-essay/last-minute-malacca/

“Do Not Visit During Malaysia Holidays”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

If you plan to come here during Malaysia public holidays especially those that connected with weekends, you will probably going to stuck in traffic (if you are driving or taking a taxi) all day. Even if you are not driving, you will still have a hard time enjoying yourself in this place because it will be super packed.

However if you like getting stuck in a sea of people, queuing every time to buy a snack or a drink for no less than half an hour, sweating like a pig and doing nothing under the baking sun because......well, you are stuck in a sea of people (didn't I just mentioned this?) then it's OK.

You will have to visit this place eventually because Melaka doesn't have that much to offer if you don't have a local guide to take you to their local spots. Even if you did have a local guide, visiting during the big holidays will just waste your precious time because......well, you are going to be stuck in traffic all day.......

“Not very impressive”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

I understand that the old shophouses are special, but the street itself is not very impressive: just another bunch of souvenir shops, coffeeshops and (chinese) restaurants...
