“Worth the walk from the convention center”
Reviewed 31 July 2014 via mobile

Really good little lunch place. Some creative wraps and sandwiches. 219 Conti is just a few blocks from the Mobile Convention Center and well worth the walk to get here. The gyros are just a bit above average but you have to try the eggplant wrap. Delicious!
Place gets crowded at lunch but thins out pretty quickly after noon crowd clears out. It's obvious that 219 is very popular with the local professionals which is usually a reliable indicator of good food and service and so it is here. The staff are courteous and attentive.

“Good lunch, but hold the plastic!”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

A couple of friends of mine and I stopped here for lunch after finding several other options closed on Monday, and we're glad we did. The restaurant is in a nicely renovated brick structure in the heart of (recovering) Mobile. From the tomato soup to eggplant/hummus wrap, all our items were surprisingly original and tasty. My only complaint is that it was all served in plastic and styrofoam, even the soft drinks. This is not only offputting from a culinary perspective, but also reflects a pretty distressing lack of environmental concern.

“I Hate to Disagree, but . . . .”
Reviewed 7 February 2014

I thought 219 was "less than okay." Service was so-so; two people waited on me at different times -- not sure what that was all about. The panini I ordered sounded great (breaded and baked eggplant, hummus, pesto, lettuce, tomato, feta cheese) but in fact the eggplant was overcooked and almost "hard." Maybe it was day-old, I don't know; that's not an accusation, just an observation. The special soup of the day ("Three Mushroom," described as a "cream" soup) was watery and I had to send it back for heating as it was hardly warm. The beer was good, but in all fairness it was bottled. I also had to ask for silverware, as none was provided when my food was served.

Hot lunch spot for downtown office and government employees. Wraps and sandwiches are outstanding. Don't miss the potato salad.
