“Nice Neighborhood Bar”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

My husband and I have visited The Tipping Point several times over the last few months. Great neighborhood bar...even though it's a little 'out of the way' of most neighborhoods, it is convenient for most of East Montgomery, which is growing. If they are busy, service suffers; but if they aren't busy, service is prompt and friendly. If you don't know what kind of beer you want to try, the owner (and many of the other staff) can give you suggestions based on what type of beer you normally like - pretty cool. The decor is very clean and inviting, with both indoor and outdoor seating, including a play area for the kids or dogs. They offer live entertainment on some nights and do movie nights in the summer. The food is better than your average bar food. The menu is fairly fresh and light, mostly sandwiches. I haven't had anything that I didn't like. We have experienced a time or two when they seemed to be out of most everything on the menu, which was frustrating. They explained that they were slammed the night before and hadn't restocked yet. Huh? The owner has been there every time we've visited and he usually makes a point to say hello and have a brief conversation. If we lived in the neighborhood, we would be here more often.

“Okay food but poor service”
Reviewed 19 September 2013

So the location of this restaurant was a little off the beaten path but in an area that is very "up scale". The atmosphere is very indi-chique if you will. When we arrived it took a while to get our order taken for drinks. The server seemed uncomfortable answering questions and very distracted from waiting on her tables. We had the hummus and flatbread which was really good, however, when it came time to place our orders they seemed to be out of everything. Did I mention it took us about 30 minutes to get our meal and we ordered sandwhiches and flatbread trios? They did offer a very laid back outdoor area which is great for children with a little hll for them to play on while you eat, it is surrounded by a fence. If you do eat here don't be surprised to give them a credit card to start a tab before you even receive anything. If I didn't have to worry about service I would return.

“Great food, secluded and nice. Sometimes hard to find.”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

once you're there it's really nice. There are homes round you and another expensive restaurant across the parking lot. But The Tipping Point is unique. They have deck like seating outside. Plus they have a little outdoor picnic table area where they have outdoor free concerts.
The trio on flatbread with Hummus was delidious, along with a rootbeer float! It's worth the drive and a unique little place to eat! Looks a little like a new England fishing village.

“Disappointing Night”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

The food is good - the atmosphere is unique and wonderful. Unfortunately we had a very bad experience here. Montgomery badly needs nice places - but there are 30 people that won't be returning.

Our post-season baseball team's dinner was here. The casual outside areas are wonderful for enjoying a summer night, with areas for the kids to play and adults to sample the extensive beer menu. When serving beer, you have to get "cold" right - the beer wasn't cold. Strike one. We arrived at 8, we never had a dedicated waitress or waiter - they treated the dinner parties as if we were ordering bar food - hit and miss service. In 2 hours, we only saw a waitress once. Finally, we ordered our food at the bar, were told 15 minutes tops, and at 9:56 (55 min later) we were given our food as we walked out the door. The owner was unconcerned and didn't offer explanations, apologies, or any platitudes to smooth things over. Too bad, so sad. It was not a good way to send your guests home - hungry, disappointed, and frustrated.

It is probably fine for early food or drinks. Don't expect to be treated like you are at a restaurant. We had heard so many good things about this place, but won't return, mostly due to the attitude of the owner and staff.
