Unfortunately we could spend only two nights in Montgomery. Thankfully we chose to spend them at the Lattice Inn. Owner & host Jim was both welcoming and helpful, especially in those small ways that really make a difference when you're a long way from home.

We had wanted to visit the Southern Poverty Law Center for many years as we believe it to be one of the world's truly great charities. We'd also wanted to immerse ourselves, for a moment, in the history of the American civil rights movement. The Lattice Inn's close proximity to downtown Montgomery allowed us to do all that, with minimal fuss.

Jim's an excellent host, offers delicious breakfast, and knows a lot about his city and state. We'd happily stay at the Lattice Inn again if we visit Montgomery again some time.

We had a lovely time. The B&B is in the optimistically named Garden District. Just a few minutes from downtown. The Inn itself was absolutely charming. Jim has done a great job keeping the original feel while adding subtle amenities (such as Apple TV, wifi, nice new shower head). Breakfast was simple, very tasty and fresh. The home-made banana bread was a highlight.

From my first conversation over the phone with Jim, in booking a reservation, I knew we had chosen the right place. An impeccable property, maintained by an eagle eye's attention to detail and fabled southern charm, all delivered by Jim left us wanting for nothing. Not one thing. A spacious front porch with a bench swing, an ample front parlor with quality periodicals, a full library, and even a piano, all surrounded by a sophisticated, yet homey, and comfortable decor welcomed us, as did Jim. Delicious fare for every breakfast, served southern style with great taste and wonderful conversation. The back porch of complete seclusion, hidden by layers of well-tended greenery boasted a saltwater swimming pool which we used daily, a heart-warming hot tub and even a coy pond. And the rooms were so welcoming as well, with both a claw foot tub and a shower, and the best sleep I've had away from home. I cannot say enough good things about our stay with Jim. His unmatched hospitality stands a new benchmark as he effortlessly displayed what only a great host can do: make you feel like a friend at home instead of a stranger far away from one. The truly magical quality of his hosting laid in his ability to anticipate our wants and deliver them in the refreshing manner of a friend instead of a servant. If you're venturing to the Montgomery area, you won't find a better place. Thanks again, Jim. We'll be back for another visit.

From the moment we walked in, we felt at home. Jim is an exceptional innkeeper and anticipated all of our needs. The home is warm and inviting with a cozy big comfortable bed. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Breakfast was fabulous every morning as was Jim's company. Our stay at the Lattice Inn was the best experience I've ever had while being so far from home. We will most certainly be staying at the Lattice Inn on every trip to Alabama! We came to visit our granddaughter for her 7th birthday and she also fell in love with the place. Jim made her feel special on her birthday breakfast by lighting a candle in her pumpkin spice muffin, which he also wrapped up for her to take for school lunch. He suggested "Zoo Boo" for Halloween night and we all had a blast. Jim is a special person with a warm heart who took care of us as if we were family. The Lattice Inn was a warm, endearing experience that I will always remember with fondness. Thank you Jim! I hope to see you next year for Tiraslen's 8th birthday. There is no other place I would rather stay! Jon and Annie O'Connor

We were headed out on our own civil rights tour & found the Lattice Inn highly recommended on the Trip Advisor website. It was a great place to stay! Jim, the owner, sent us an e-mail prior to our visit with a list of places to see, recommended restaurants & even theatre suggestions - all of which proved to be wonderful. The Inn is located within walking distance of downtown Montgomery and many of Jim's recommendations which suited us perfectly as we like to see an area on foot (and helps to walk off his delicious breakfasts!). We enjoyed the pool & the hot tub and met a delightful couple from Wales who pointed us to the unique history of the Welsh stained glass window at the Sixteenth St. Baptist Church in Birmingham. If you're ever in Montgomery, you want to stay here.

My husband and I were looking for a place to stay on our way to Florida. Lattice Inn was quiet and restful. We would definitely stay again. We enjoyed the El Rey Burrito Lounge as a recommendation. Good vegan food. Jim was wonderful in recording a month view for use to delay to a later time. He went out of the way to accommodate our vegan diet. Thanks Jim for being such a gracious helpful host.
