Kudos to the lovely night manager that checked us in and took perfect care of us. I'm sorry I can't remember her name. After a long day of preparing the boys new home while they are at AU, our clerk gladly got us more towels and sundries. She was a wealth of information.
The only drawback was our waitress at the breakfast. It was $60 for the 4 of us. We had to run her down for refills and wait for up 5 mins to return. The restaurant was not crowded. Also had to ask for my $40 in change. She didn't offer to give it to me. I tipped her 10% for her lack luster service. Other than the sorry waitress everything was perfect.

Rather than stay in Columbus I decided to take the short drive to Opelika. Loved the self parking and automatic door for the entrance. Great for wheelchair access. Front Desk check in was smooth and I loved the view of the pool and Tennis Court area. Ask for this if you can. I ordered in room dining as it is a bit far from the interstate dining options. However the kids meal sizes were equivalent to an adults size (European size) so it was more than ample for me and my child. Would definitely stay here again if in the Auburn/Opelika/Columbus area..

Room Tip: Overlook pool area.

Thank you for the review. We are a great alternative to staying in Columbus. We're only about 45 minutes away and provide a completely different experience than the hotels in Columbus. Please stay with us again the next time you're in our area.

My boyfriend and I came for a long weekend of golf and relaxing. Great hotel and the most courteous staff. The room was very clean and was modern. The grounds are immaculate. All rooms have a pool view and balcony. The RTJ golf courses are beautiful. Great pool area for the kids as well as tennis. I would highly recommend this hotel to family and friends. We will be coming back!

This is one of our favorite areas - the hotel staff is very helpful and courteous - rooms are clean, but the hotel itself looked - in places a bit "tired! Areas by the lifts should be vacuumed properly - the lifts were scary - they were so slow and very noisy - you were happy, when it reached its destination! Restaurant facilities very good - breakfast buffet excellent - again very good service!
We were upgraded to a Junior Suite, but this was only a room very slightly bigger than the average guestroom - with an extra armchair - which was making the room rather small - since both armchairs were right in front of the bed - therefore - not really what one would call a suite! The swimmingpool area has been upgraded - with water features and kids pools - which are great to look at and fun for kids - but the original swimming pool is still the same it was years ago - although enhanced by the surrounding area.
The main asset to this hotel is the quietness of the surroundings and the golf courses - and - of course - the excellent staff - the hotel itself could do with a bit of an upgrade inside - but we still enjoyed our stay and would come back!
One final observation - trashcans in the parking lot should be checked regularly - especially in the evenings - although there might be racoons making a mess overnight - if the trash is dealt with in the evening there might not be so much for them to make a mess with - while we were there the trash was overflowing morning, lunchtime and evening - and the hotel was not very full - therefore not a very good impression for guests arriving at the hotel!

Room Tip: Try to get a room not overlooking the pool area - can be very noisyin the evenings!

Thank you for the review. I'm so glad that you were pleased with your stay. You are correct regarding the Junior Suites. They are slightly larger versions of our guest rooms. For even more space, I recommend one of our Executive Suites or even the Presidential Suite. Some suites have kitchen areas, seperate bedroom and living quarters and even a fireplace!

The "original" outdoor pool has had some upgrades done to it. Bench seating was added down the length of the pool along with built in cocktail tables so that you can sit in the pool and enjoy your favorite beverage. We also added an outdoor hot tub with water feature to that area and we keep it as an "adult only" area. The kids can have a great time at the new pool with water slide, waterfalls, and splash pad.

We'll keep a closer eye on the parking lot trash cans. We do empty them several times per day, but they are small and can fill up quickly.

Come back and visit us again real soon!

My husband and I stayed here for a night on our visit to Tueskegee Airmen National Historic Site. One can either walk the Grand National Trail or stay for hours by the pool or in the pool. The area is quiet and far from the hustle and bustle of city life. The restaurant and bar provide good and reasonably priced food. I would gladly stay here again when another chance comes.

Green Features: I appreciate every Marriott hotel's environment friendly practices such as encouraging guests to reuse towels.

Tucked away in the lush, green, bird- song filled forest, this resort was the right weekend getaway for my family. The adult pool afforded views to the children's pool and tennis courts. My husband enjoyed a round on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. The food was fine. Once again, the Marriott met our expectations!

For the past 14 years, or when the Grand National hotel in Opelika (Marriott's finest hotel) we have receive wonderful customer service, and the southern style buffet breakfast is something my husband and I enjoy every year. With the new addition of the water park/slide area it is a welcome addition to the wonderful hotel. The hotel Manager, Jay Prater extends the word of wonderful customer service to us every time we arrive to the hotel. We arrive in April for two different dates, the staff is courtesy, polite, enjoy the southern hospitality and the wonderful rooms, new menu and will continue to stay at the hotel for years to come! Well done Marriot staff, Jay, Wayne, Brent, Chip, Nate and the front desk staff. thanks again for the warm welcome!
