“A throwback to days gone by....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

It's fun to see the candies and goodies in the General store. The selection of Amish canned foods is wide--and tasty! The Cheeseburgers and grilled cheese sandwiches are menu favorites of our family. I grew up in Opp and my kids always love going to Docs when in town to visit my parents. The burgers at Docs definitely beat "fast food"--and it's a good place for families headed to the beach on 331 to stop and stretch.

“Good Food...Long Wait”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 December 2013 via mobile

If you aren't in a big hurry and just want to enjoy some conversation and have a home cooked meal...then stop in Opp. The food was really good and reasonable. The service was really slow...but the food was worth the wait.

“A fun place to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2013

This restaurant has really grown and evolved since it opened. Started by a local veterinarian, Doc's is multi faceted.
It is a luncheon cafe, gift shop, flea market, and old timey museum. The museum contains old farm and home tools, medicine bottles, furniture, and collectables. They are housed in original log type cabins that have been moved in. The flea market contains one man's trash and other people's treasures.
The cafe is quaint. It is housed behind the expansive gift shop that contains old timey candy, Amish and local preserves, custom wood projects like bird houses, costume jewelry, purses, collegiate gifts, and toys. The cafe has expanded three times now to accomodate the many customers. Sandwiches, burgers, salads, and desserts are available. Recently service has been extended to include breakfast fare.
Doc himself can be found pouring tea and visiting with customers.
This is a great place to stop going to and from the Destin/Panama City/Gulf Coast area. Plenty of parking, great food, friendly service, and many repeat customers. Locals come for the great food, too! Oh, I forgot to mention-homemade ice cream always available.

“Great Old Time General Store”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2013 via mobile

If you're hungry, wait until the coast. If you can't wait, take 5 extra minutes and go downtown for Chinese or Mexican. While the general store is very cute and nostalgic, if my is experience is representative, the food was just awful. And it took forever. These were the worst chili dogs I have ever had. They and the fries were greasy and cold. Worse than a snack bar at a high school ball game. You might be safe with the home baked desserts, but I was afraid to try them.

“Awesome Stop in Opp!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2013

Stopped on our way back north from Destin, FL and loved it! The kids claimed that they have never had better ice cream in their lives. Fun country store with lots of things to look at. Super staff here... will make it a point to stop back if we are headed through there again!
