Perdido Beach Resort
Ranked #1 of 19 Hotels in Orange Beach
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 17 August 2014

The Perdido Beach Resort is located on the best stretch of beach in Orange Beach, AL. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the pool area is better than most in Orange Beach. Updating the rooms would take this hotel from very good to excellent and give better value for the price.

Room Tip: A partial beach view gives just as good a beach view as the "beach view" rooms, at a lower...

We only stayed one night, but it was one of the busiest nights of the year: the Kenny Chesney concert. After reading reviews, I was expecting horrid customer service, but everyone from the valet guys, to the front desk, to the pool bartenders were pleasant, quick, and efficient. We hung out at the pool for a few hours before heading to the concert and crashed in the bed when we got back. The pillows are a little big and spongy, and the sheets aren't that soft, but it was a big, clean room (tiny bathroom, though) with a great view of the pool and the beach. The pizza downstairs is the BEST!!! I would go back just for that :)

Family friendly, convenient beach resort located on the east end of Orange Beach, AL.
We stayed here with our two children (ages 6 & 7) mid-week for two nights. Our room was on the 8th floor of the West tower with a pool view from the balcony. But you could see the beach & ocean from the balcony as well.
Plus... in the mornings (around 8) you can see multiple dolphins swimming near the shore!!!!
The beach access is great, as it has a shower on the boardwalk to wash the sand from you after a day at the beach without having to track it throughout the hotel or pool.
The pool is great, a wide variety of depths, plus two hot tubs- one for everyone, and one for adults only.
The only thing I could find slightly negative was the outdated bathroom tiles and the thin bedding.
Overall, a great stay.

We accompanied my husband who was on a business/convention trip. We live in Alabama and visit Orange Beach regularly, so we are very familiar with the area. It is about a 5 hour drive from our home, so we arrived around around 2 pm. Check in was very smooth, and we were in our room quickly. Upon first glance the room seemed nice, a standard hotel room. It had two queen beds, a dresser with an older TV, a small refrigerator, a table and chairs, and a night stand between the beds. The best feature of the room was the balcony overlooking the pool and the gorgeous gulf.
Upon further inspection I noticed how worn the dresser was, and so were the bed frames. I could live with that but the worst part was the dampness. It was so damp in the room that the bed clothes were actually wet! It was so humid that it was hard to breathe. There was no fan in the bathroom, so when someone showered it doubled the problem. It was actually less humid outside at 95 degrees than it was in the room. It made it very hard to sleep.
The pool area was very nice and I enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the grill and pizzeria by the pool, as they had excellent food. I can't say the same for the breakfast buffet at the resort as it left a lot to be desired.
There are so many great choices in the area, especially for the price. I don't think I would return unless it was for a convention.

They have a beautiful pool area and an amazing poolside food but if you enjoy a smiling happy staff this is not the place to go. The friendliness stops after the bellman service. It seems the staff is all young and not trained to provide the level of service a hotel at this price should offer. We were trying to treat family and were so embarrassed by the lack of service. All in all, after $1400.00 for two nights for two rooms all I can say is I learned an important lesson. Save your money and time and go elsewhere

Just returned from there today. Excellent family vacation. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the places to eat nearby. We visit Orange Beach about 4 times each summer and plan to stay here again. The pool and restaurants on site are very good. The resort/hotel is older but they do a good job of maintaining. Lots of nice conferences and wedding receptions on the weekends. However, it was no trouble to find parking nor was the pool too crowded. Great experience for the families we met on the beach and at the pool.

Room Tip: "Most" every room has a good gulf view.

Good: conference food and drink, wait staff, pool and beach areas, view from east wing on 6th floor
Bad: reservations-doubled booked the room initially then put us in a King instead of 2 queens; front desk-attitude displayed did not care about guests, they were busy with multiple conferences and we should've been grateful to have a room at all; housekeeeping failed to refill room amenities such as coffee, shampoo and toilet paper-had to ask at the front desk where again the impression was we were bothering them; old fashioned AC unit-it's on and noisily blowing or off and hot
The overall experience was uneven, like it had recently been bought and the old staff was trying keep things at a higher level and the new staff is just there for a paycheck; doesn't live up to the prices they charge

Room Tip: Even though we were right in front of elevator really didn't hear a lot of noise, definitely go...
