The location of Silver Dunes is pretty good. It's a bit farther East in Orange Beach. Traffic was pretty noisy. It's a Low-Rise Complex (I don't do High-Rise) and the Side-view of Gulf was decent. Sugar Beach Condos have been there a long time so keep your expectations realistic to the age of the complex and you will be in good shape.
The complex had several pools and 1 was heated which was great for Spring. There was also a snack bar onsite which our teens loved. The snack bar had adult beverages which I loved when I didn't want to go all the way up to our unit for an afternoon cocktail on the beach. We rented #275 from Wyndham. I shared feedback that our unit needed some updates and they were responsive. There is a great seafood take-out place across the street - Lartigue's.

Room Tip: Some units had Direct Gulf Front Views but most have Side Views; The closer you are to Hwy the noisier it gets but it's acceptable

We took a last minute beach trip the weekend of Spring Break. We stayed in unit 147. It was very clean and looked to be newly renovated. We loved both the condo and complex. There are pools and a snack bar, plus it's just steps from the beach. The owners were very helpful and super nice. We are already planning a trip back in October and hope to stay in #147 again!

My daughter have been here several times. It's our go-to place! Reasonably priced, ON the beach, 2 pools and cool snack bar! The kitchenette helps not having to eat out ever meal. If you want to be right around a lot of things to do, this won't be the place for you. We just like to chill, play games, watch movies when we're moron the beach. We love it!

Family off season vacation, got the deal on Expedia. Probably could have gotten better deal with Sugar Sands Realty, they had deal buy four get one free. Rental realty across the street, within walking distance. They have a late pickup box. Condos are independent, so each is different than the others. Ours was 161, two bedroom, two bath. Don't expect large name time share. Yes they do have a list of items to bring. No free toiletries, bring your own. No dish soap, they did have have one pack dishwasher powder. Bring trash bags and toilet paper, only one set provided. Like most condos, you do have to load the dishwasher before you leave, and strip the linens. The linens are serviceable. Bedspread well past "fair" and appeared dirty. Blanket was pretty threadbare. Well decorated, but think 70's. Wicker furniture. Large mirror in main living space makes it seem larger. TVs in both bedrooms and main living space mounted to wall and not adjustable. DVD player would not play on two different discs, so don't count on it. Did not try the VHS player, other than I don't know of anyone with VHS tapes. Kitchen has plenty of wares, all garage sale hodge podge, but it works for vacation. Stackable washer/dryer. Dryer has water vent, vents inside. From all the warnings, you do not want to let the water vent run out of water. I think they will send Guido to break your legs. Nice balcony, not bad view, and you get to see the sunset. Parking in underneath. Mostly shaded, and open, so it is not like the big condo rabbit warrens. Snack shop closed first day we were there. Nice entry to beach with two taps to wash off and two shower heads. Three beach side pools. One pool heated. Did not try the pool above the parking area. Not many people used it. Also tennis court above the parking with a shuffle board court. Two elevators, and plenty of carts to carry stuff, unlike the big condos. Stairwells are airy and well lit. Seemed like they mopped the hallways every day. They washed the board walk and pool areas every morning. Common areas very clean. Three condo floor above the parking, so we did not use the elevators. Security kept a pretty good eye on people coming and going. And patrolled the complex. No trash in hallways, no towels on the rails. Dumpster was emptied every day, around six, so west side condos will get an early wakeup call. Plenty of hot water, plenty of cold air. Front bath tub/shower combo. Rear bath shower only, and very small. Large people will be uncomfortable. Very claustrophobic, and very dark. May be to hide the dirty shower head. A good cleaning would do wonders. Separate large vanity for the women. Beach is what you came for. Beach area has Ike's beach chairs if you want to rent. Nice entry to water when we were there. Being near the State park, you can find empty beach within walking distance. If you want the big condo experience, walk east, and when you come to the beach area where you cannot see the sand for all the people in the luxury towers, you have arrived. Not luxurious, not home, but a good deal for a good price, in a good location.
