“Great Location Great Price”
Reviewed 2 September 2014

I came here on vacation with my daughter, and I can say it was an all around pleasant experience.

The good:
The location is ideal. It's just a short walk to the beach, and you do not have to cross any roads. The pool was great, and everything was clean and well kept. The room was clean, and housekeeping did a great job of accommodating everyone's schedule. On some days, it seemed like we were only down at the beach for a couple of hours, and they managed to clean the room in the short period of time we were gone. Also, breakfast is complementary, and the quality of the breakfast was great. It was standard continental fare: waffles, sausage, boiled eggs, yogurt, bagels, muffins, cereal, etc.

The less than ideal:
The rooms are a little small, so for a family of four, it would be a tight fit. Also, there are no bathtubs, only showers. That was not really an issue for us since we didn't mind taking showers, but it might be for some. The number of rooms with a beach / ocean view is very limited. Again, that was not much of an issue for us since we did not spend a lot of time in the room, but if it is an issue for you, you might want to book well in advance to ensure you get one. Finally, the breakfast area was a bit limited in size for the number of people staying there. We sometimes felt like we were crawling over each other, and the wait for the waffle irons was long. Also, seating is limited, so you may not be able to eat in the breakfast area.

Overall, the good outweighed the not so good, and I would definitely consider staying here again for my next trip to Orange Beach.

We booked this place a few months in advance and it was one of the only rooms still available in the area god Labor Day weekend. It was also the least expensive beachfront option. We didn't expect anything glamorous. It is a budget hotel. The important thing is that it's clean and fairly quiet. They honored my request for a room away from the elevator and ice machine. You don't want a room on the first floor. We had a tiny balcony where we could see a bit of beach, but mostly the road and condo next door. No room on the balcony for a chair. The room was slightly damp, and a but outdated. The air vent in the bathroom was very dusty and rusty, and the bathroom door was the sliding kind that barely worked. It was also a very small room. The pool and beach area were very nice, though the wooden walkway to the beach was a bit steep and the shower to rinse sand off didn't work. Breakfast was crowded and very basic. Just keep expectations low with this place.

We recently stayed at the Sleep Inn when we were in town for the Kenny Chesney concert at Flora-Bama. I gave it a 4 star rating simply because of the location. The hotel is on the beach and close to a strip mall and grocery stores. It is also a short drive to the Wharf with great restaurants and activities. The hotel is more of a budget hotel with average rooms, and friendly staff. If you are looking for beautiful views and direct access to the beach this is your hotel.

Couldn't ask for a hotel with a better location for the beach; staff were all extremely pleasant. Our room was clean but a bit dated. Slept comfortably and enjoyed the pool as well as the Gulf. Overall a fine stay. If we visit the area again we would consider staying again.

Room Tip: Don't be afraid to ask for repairs on anything you find that needs a little fixing; they are ver...

Hello - my family - 2 adults and 2 teens - stayed at Sleep Inn Gulf Front from Aug 10-15, 2014. We were in a king suite - ocean front room - top floor. Let me start by saying we were basically looking for a cheap getaway before school started. We knew from reading the previous reviews we were not getting the usual type of hotel we stay at. I am listing a lot of cons just so future guests know what they are getting and make an informed decision. I am in no way saying stay away from this hotel - it met our needs for the time we were there and we knew what we were getting. Two years ago we stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites and would have stayed there again had the price not been so high.

Here are some pros:
Reasonable prices for a beach front hotel
Most hotel employees were pleasant
You do get breakfast but it is limited
The closet was big
Frig and microwave were nice along with the bar area/sink
Spending time with my family

Here are some cons:
This is a very old hotel
Rooms are very very small. If you have more than 2 adults you will be tripping over each other.
We basically had two rooms put together and we still didn't have enough room.
We had to bring an air mattress since we had teenagers - boy and girl.
There is very limited storage.
Room had unnecessary décor on top of dressers, etc. We put them all under the sink so we had more room for storage. We needed every flat surface.
The closet was big but only had a hanging rod - it could use a shelf to help with storage.
The bedroom had two drawers for clothing
The bathroom is a toilet and standup shower. Basically like a cruise ship size. Sink outside in bedroom
We had to hold down the lever of the toilet for the entire flush
Room ceiling was cracked and chipping away
Room door had about a half inch gap when it was closed and locked
The balcony was very small - you could not sit facing the ocean - there was not enough room the turn the chair and sit in it - you had to sit at an angle.

We knew what we were getting so that helped a lot. For a cheap getaway we would definitely consider staying here again. We were more interested in being at the beach and being together.

Being on the beach was great, not far to walk. Very outdated, a fresh coat of paint was needed in the room. The room smelled and had some mold in the corners of the room. Bathroom was very small. It was quite at night. Breakfast was not very good, we ate breakfast out two of the days. I would not stay there again. You get what you pay for. Would be helpful if they could put a rug on the floor where people come in from the beach.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a balcony.
