Breathtaking and simply wonderful. This small tropical Island has everything to make an European Pacific-Ocean-tream true: Located in the crystal clear waters south of Ovalau, staffed by the most friendly Fiji people who really care about their guests, free snorkeling, stand-up paddeling, kayaking .... When meals are ready a horn blows and this is pretty much the only sound you hear apart from palm leafs in the wind.
What is best: not a singe jet-ski in the waters!!
All you have to do: Just call Milika under 8384365 and a small but strong boat will pick you up in Bau Landing or Levuka.
We have seen many beaches all over India, Asia and Africa - but Leleuvia is really outstanding. Many thanks to the staff!!

Having just spent 5 nights at Leleuvia Island Resort with my family it is a little hard to get back into the reality of work. Truly the most perfect place to have a Fijian holiday, with something for everyone, Scuba diving was fantastic for my son and I, with warm water and a huge variety of fish, turtles and scenery, paddle boarding and kayaks for all ages, even our 11 year old daughter paddled her way around the island, the 5 year old hitched a ride with mum and snorkeling for all.
Millie (5) very excited to find Nemo and his family on her big snorkeling adventure.
The staff were great with the kids and us big kids, nothing is a problem, such a relaxing fun loving atmosphere. The family bure was perfect for the 5 of us, meals and standard of the food was really good, with our little one being a bit of a fussy eater, nothing was a problem. Great value for money overall, the only thing we didn't like, was having to leave
A true family adventure that we will all remember for a very long time. We will be planning to come back, sooner than later if the kids have anything to do with it.

Leleuvia Island Resort is truly a secret tropical gem, where one can capture the essence of the Fijian experience. The shallow emerald green waters, white sand beaches, and gentle tradewinds make it a sailor and paddler’s dream come true. The staff are very warm and accommodating: Joe: Bartender extraordinaire. Simi: Very helpful and professional (will take you on a private jungle tour) Takia: Strong, healing hands. Everyone, from the sweet guy who rakes the leaves goes out of their way to make guests feel welcome and at home. But what really makes this place special is the husband and wife team of Steve and Mandy West (world renowned paddlers and authors). They are wonderful ambassadors of a paddling experience in Paradise. In my short stay I experienced several OC-1 paddles with Steve working on my stroke, two outings in the OC-6 canoes with the staff, and one unforgettable sail on the OC-3 sailboat. I have memories to last a lifetime! Bula Vinaka!

Leleuvia is located close to Suva which is a plus for anyone wanting a day or weekend trip as it is a short boat ride from Bau Landing. The water is clear and safe for swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving and fishing. There is a new water trampoline that was a hit with the kids and adults. There are boats that go to the other islands for day trips and visiting the former capital is a short boat ride away. Leleuvia Resort has outstanding views and has been built within the native trees on the island. What has been built blends in with its surroundings which gives a warm feeling to the place. The staff has a great way with kids and adults alike. Children are treated as though they are really wanted there. Plenty of laughter with the staff and they become your friend during your stay and remember everyone the next time you go. The kitchen crew was very helpful in working with dietary needs and all you had to do was ask. The island was small enough the kids could paddle around the island and were supported by staff if needed. While there the kids had crab races and dancing competitions. We brought some DVDs for after dinner or a rainy day and the staff were able to set up a player for any kids to watch. This is located right behind the main dinning area. There is free wifi in the main pavilion for those who want to work on holiday or keep in touch. Adults can have drinks, chat and know kids feel safe while they walk around and play without a care. Lovely place for families or couples and a great place to meet new people from all around the world. A local secret as it has everything anyone needs and easy to get to. We have been twice and hope to get there at least 3 or 4 times a year. Last time we extended a day and had no worries booking another night with friends and their kids. Wishing the whole team who runs the place the best, as this really is what Fiji is all about. Memories of a lifetime waiting for you in Leleuvia.

The resort gets generally good reviews so I wont go over all the good things said about it but will highlight two pluses:

1) Great escape: Most expats head west to Pac Harbour or the Korolevu coast for a weekend break but Leleuvia is far nicer. The western beach is great and more or less swimmable at all tides. It only takes 40 minutes to get from Suva to Bau Landing where you catch the boat to Leleuvia (another 40 minutes) and once there you have already entered a different world from that of Suva. You are also more likely to be out of range of Suva-weather than if you head west anywhere closer than Sigatoka (2 hours away).

1) Service: Despite the natural friendliness and warmth of Fijians, service is usually inefficient, poorly organised and slow in Fiji, partly because many establishments are under-staffed. The service in Leleuvia is a big exception.

Of course, Leleuvia lacks many of the creature comforts of Coral Coast resorts but its beautiful east-facing location means that AC and fans are usually not needed and there are no mosquitoes on the island so you can sleep comfortably with windows open.

I came to Leleuvia in mid August 2013 for two marvellous days. Wonderfully helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful island which, God willing, will not disappear beneath the waves. Go there if you can for a few days.

My toddler and I recently stayed at Leleuvia, now she's named her baby after the island! We were booked in for 3 nights and extended to a blissful 2 weeks as everything was so effortlessly beautiful and relaxing. Every single staff member was genuinely warm and went out of their way to ensure we had a great time. We will be going back ASAP!!
