We arrived after a private ceremony in Australia, and could not have been made to feel more welcome for our week long stay. Everyone on staff were always very friendly, welcoming and accommodating- from the managers, the chefs, wait & bar staff, activity guides, musicians, massage therapists, workmen, gardeners and cleaners. Occupancy was low, so with a high staff to guest ratio, we felt extra special. Other guests were also friendly and enjoying their holidays, although there really weren't many others there for our stay, which gave a sense of privacy throughout. Although warned about the wet season, we had great weather for most of our trip(albeit very hot!), but it is notable that many of our preferred outdoor activities (e.g., snorkelling, fishing) were highly dependent on the sun and low wind. When the weather turned for us, it merely forced relaxation time. There were a few kids around, but mostly engaged in kids club activities, so didn't bother us at all. We stayed in a very private honeymoon bure with the water and reef as our front yard. The walk from the resort centre was worthwhile for added privacy, and also welcomed to walk off our food indulgences. Food had been one of our biggest concerns before we arrived. I am a vegetarian (almost vegan) and my husband needs a gluten free diet. To our delight, we were overwhelmed by how accommodating the chefs were for us. They quickly understood our needs and made it their job to ensure we had food to enjoy - and, boy was it good! If there was nothing to our taste on the menu, they would be happy (and proud) to present us a surprise alternative. This went very well every time.. Best gf pancakes we have ever tried!! We found our special song on malolo (thanks to the awesome musos), and have taken away so many special memories. I had a tear in my eye when we left. We will be back. Vinaka vaka levu

We had a fantastic stay at Malolo Island resort, one of the best holidays Ive been on. Resort is beautiful, staff were extremely friendly, food and drinks were reasonable. We spent 4 days snorkelling, kayaking, SUPing, swimming and drinking cocktails, it was perfection.

Before we went, we did have a little complaint with the rate of the resort. But once we arrived and spent two night over there. We did feel all are worthwhile.

Not so many tourists visiting, and because of that, we counld enjoy a very good mother nature of South Pacific Island with a great privacy. Very good sunshine and beach and also a good swinnng pool only with your loved one. A very good chef, he comes from Australia. We did appreciate the food as since we are still in a decent resturant in the civilization.

We are planning our next visit for early next year. Hope the people there are still the same with pure heart and even better.

My last visit to this resort was prior to its extensive upgrade and my family and I were so impressed by the physical transformation of the property - from an upgraded restaurant designed for so many more guests than previously while allowing for free flow to either buffet selection or for a la carte service. It was spacious, sparkling clean and the service was prompt and impecccable. The beach "bures"/villas were light, airy and perfectly maintained with classy Fijian decor touches and provided us with very comfortable accommodation for six adults and two children - the patience and very niceness of the housekeeping staff must be commended as we were messy guests. The layout, accommodation, services and standard of service make this resort perfect for both couples and families. It ranks as one of the top resorts in the islands and the renovation and new facilities still allowed the property to retain its special Fijian service style.

Room Tip: We were kindly allocated a beachfront villa near the central core which allowed easy access to resta...

We were a bit tentative heading to Malolo as we had heard it was popular with families and we were after a quiet holiday. Although the resort is set up for families it is a perfect getaway for couples as well and we loved our time on the island. The setting is just amazing and the facilities are great as well as they had been upgraded after the hurricane a few years ago. The food on the island was also incredible, especially the Tree tops restaurant which caters for adults only. The staff on the Island were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. The happy hour cocktails with live music were always lots of fun. A special mention goes out to Natha in the restaurant who made every visit a pleasure!
Great water sport facilities, beautiful reefs for snorkeling and relaxing massages. We would definitely return here!

We were here late Dec '13 and over the New Year period. This is one to the most relaxing times I have ever had in my life. We had Bure 35, which was a wee walk from things but nice and quiet down our end of the beach, it was like having your own private beach each morning and evening. Great snorkelling just in from of these end Bure. The resort had recently been refurbished, everything was clean and new. Limited number of Bures available, so that means that there are no crowds, no waiting for anything. Staff were very friendly, and as others have mentioned, Kali is amazing, our kids warmed to him and he got them involved with most of the daily activities. Plenty to do or not to do on the Island. We went snorkelling, dolphin watching, the sand bar, castaway wall, honeymoon island , also kayaking and learnt to sail a hobby cat.

They certainly looked after the kids, and would march them down to the beach bar in the evening and award them certificates each night. (although our kids are teenagers) it was great to see how they looked after the young ones.

My wife and daughter had several Spa treatments and massages.

Limited Wifi which was good, no Tv's in Bure, even better, we had to talk to each other. Would wake up to amazing view every morning and have a beer on the deck in the evening. Food was just amazing, miss those pork sliders for lunch.

New years eve was amazing, they got everyone involved, huge fireworks display , followed by everyone throwing everyone and anyone into the pool. great time.

After 7 days, It was sad to leave. The week spent here was so relaxing, I'd forgotten what day it was. We will definitely be back.

This was one of the most amazing holidays my wife and I and 2girls 3&4 have ever had. The people are so genuinely friendly ( kali the lantern lighter was the best) he loved the girls and eventually they warmed to him. Overall everyone at malolo were absolutely amazing. We had a bure 3 behind the water sports hut and it was perfect. Close to everything and because we were close to the beach bar where there is free wifi we could get it in our bure ....bonus! No tvs in the bure we thought was going to be an issue for us all BUT was alright ....we did survive. The girls loved the kids pool my 4 Year old was snorkelling ( malolo sandbar highly recommended ) NYE fireworks were sensational 15 meters from our bure on the beach. No barges or barricades here...old school. Awesome.
Didn't do the meal package just did buffet breaky. Snacked for lunch at beach bar then dinner between beach bar and buffet. ( the treetops restaurant was no kids under 13 so we didn't get there ,the girls were free and it seemed to work pretty good for us. We put the girls in the kids club only a few days for a couple of hours they loved it and the carers were so good with the kids. I didn't want them to go cause we loved hanging with them. They loved paddle boarding with us so that was what we did.
We did Xmas at shangri la and here for New Years they were both so different but both so awesome. We are booking for next Xmas and doing it all again. Special thank you to kali. See you again.
