After 5 visits in 5 years, it was still hard to leave LikuLiku. Staff are constantly being poached by other resorts as LikuLiku have the best staff/reputation. Every year I am sad to have lost another favorite only to have them replaced by a new favorite -- how do they do it? A number of couples have been back more than 20 times -- says it all really! A surprise this visit was to see The Mentalist (Simon Baker) & his wife having a romantic holiday (like the rest of us) -- guess the words out?

Bula! Likuliku Lagoon Resort on Mololo Island is a superb luxury couples retreat. Our arrival by boat and the welcoming musicians set off the most beautiful and relaxing five days in Fiji. Tulia’s orientation was comprehensive and friendly. Everything was beautifully prepared and presented, all chef-prepared meals were delicious and taken in the restaurant, with a range of seating options both inside and outside including one special night in private at an exclusive beachfront table. The daily changing menu of three courses at lunch and dinner plus appetisers, and the delicious buffet and/or a’ la carte breakfast were reason enough for us to choose Likuliku. It is food-lovers’ destination. The lagoon location is gorgeous, the bures are excellent, the staff are wonderful, the musician / singers are every day at meals are delightful. Everyone is friendly and laid back but also very attentive. The resort is superbly clean, both inside and out and well maintained by the friendly grounds and room staff. We had a beachfront bure with a cool comfortable interior and an outdoor day bed and outdoor shower which was a pleasure to use every day in the gentle tropical warmth. We were shown one of the overwater bures between occupancies and they are amazing, although the beachfront and deluxe bures (with private plunge pool) are very lovely too. The shared infinity pool is fantastic for lazing around and having a swim and the gym is well equipped, clean and maintained. The climate at this time of the year (winter in Fiji) is perfect. The bure and restaurant surrounds are insect controlled daily so there are almost no mosquitoes, although it’s best to be ultra-safe and apply personal mosquito repellent too. The activities team provide a wide variety and there is snorkeling, guided walking and many other interesting (passive or active) activities. A daily program is provided for those who want to get out and about at either extra cost or no cost depending on the activity. Likuliku is a wonderfully retreat for couples. It is private, romantic and an opportunity to have time together. There are some opportunities to socialise with other guests, such as drinks and story telling at the bars, but we found the resort really encourages quietness and privacy which is what we wanted. The sunset cruise to Mociu Island was a highlight, also the couples massage at the Tatadra Spa (complimentary in our five night package). The island-hop boat tour was wonderful, although we didn’t get the full trip as advertised (although the trip price seems to have been adjusted to reflect this). We went past islands (eg Mana) on the boat, and did some snorkeling and walking at Modriki Island, where Tom Hanks was marooned in the movie Cast Away. We also had a tour to the small village of Yaro, visiting the church and the kindergarten (although it was not open at the time of our visit). We had the opportunity to have kava with our guide who conducted a welcome ceremony and bought some women’s village craft. Overall, our Likuliku experience was everything and more than what we’d have wished for, so beautiful. Tip: An ideal stay would be seven days. We were told (by the resort general manager) that all transfers are included in the seven day package. Vinaka Vakalevu Likuliku. Julie & Steve, 5th - 10th May 2018

Great place. Fantastic people. Beautiful!!!!!! The grounds are great. The staff is very attentive to your needs. The food is good. Some of the dinners are a little crazy. Some dishes they try to make too fancy.
The resort is secluded. Nothing around it. It is very quiet no nightlife. So if you want to relax this is the place. We stayed in one od the beach front room which was fantastic. I can't say enough about it. My only complaint about the room would be it was a little damp but this comes with the climate.
The staff was very welcoming and friendly Jale, Joe, Usa, Percy were a few of our favorites. But ALL of the staff was great.
We can not wait to go back.

We had always wanted to stay in an overwater bure for our honeymoon, so we splurged and spent our last two nights in Fiji at Likuliku. The hospitality was incredible - everyone knew our names and was genuinely nice. But by far our FAVORITE part was the FISH. We could see countless varieties of all kinds of fish - trigger, butterfly, parrot, surgeon, you name it - in the water UNDERNEATH our bungalow. There are glass viewing panes in floor of the bathroom and the bedroom. It was like we were snorkeling the whole time we were there, even when dry! And while you can't jump off the platform (sadly the coral is too close), you can swim up to and off of your bungalow at high tide. The tide fluctuates a LOT so sometimes the water was around 6 inches deep but for most of the day it was 4-5 feet. We spent our whole trip in the water.

And I can't say enough amazing things about the room. The floors themselves were gorgeous, not to mention the bath overlooking the ocean and enormous shower. The bathroom was as big as some apartments I've lived in.

There were plenty of activities you could do, too! They have sailboats, kayaks and paddleboards you can take any time (included), as well as snorkel and dive trips, all at reasonable prices. Our favorite was "honeymoon island," a local private island you can rent for the morning. There are other people/boats in the water and a member of staff stays not too far away in case you need anything, so note you won't be *completely* alone. Also note that they cancel all activities at even a tiny amount of wind - it was around 10 knotts when we were first supposed to go to the island and they cancelled our trip because they only have tiny one-motor small craft boats that can't handle even a little bit of chop. We were really disappointed but luckily the wind was gone the next day. Worth noting if you are planning activities and only staying a couple of days.

If I HAD to find something that could be improved, the service at the restaurant and over email when I had questions about our reservation was very slow. Luckily we were on Fiji time when we got there. Also, the only options to get to the island are very expensive boat/plane connections, which I didn't realize when I booked.

Room Tip: We loved the overwater bungalows, but ALL of the rooms looked incredible.
