“Totally awesome experience”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

We just returned from a seven night stay at the resort in a poolside room. The kids absolutley loved the resort especially having three different pools to choose from. We were glad we chose the poolside rooms as it was easier in the afternoon if you wanted to sit back and relax around the pool and the kids could swim at the same time. We stayed 8th-15th March which was perfect as it was a very quiet period at the resort. Food was definitely average but hey you are in a 3rd world country and its a 3 star resort so we got what we expected. We didnt go hungry. All the people who complained in previous reviews should pay the extra money and stay at a five star resort. The housekeeping ladies were excellent and did a great job of looking after our rooms. We mostly ate down at Anandas which was a lovely walk each night and we had great service from them (a special mention to Simon who looked after us really well and always had our table booked in advance for us). We also treated ourselves to dinner at Musket Cove on our last night and the food was five star. I would definitley go back. We had the best time ever, the water is beautiful and the tours were lovely. Highly recommend the tour to where the movie "Castaway" was filmed, it was sooooooooooo beautiful. Snorkelling and swimming is right in front of the resort and simply beautiful. Would highly recommend to any families to go to this resort. You and your kids will love it. :):):):)

We rented a cheap(ish) room at the last minute for a friend's wedding but, wow, it was awful. Tired, depressing, dark and dated, facing a garden that alternated between bare-and-dusty 'flowerbeds' and cracked concrete paths. We made the best of it by not spending much time in there! The saving graces were: reasonably good activities, friendly and helpful staff, decent communal facilities, and a lovely swimming beach on the west side of the island which is also part of the resort. It was fairly obvious that our room was one of the worst in the resort - if you're looking for a nice holiday go for a freestanding fale. Many kids and mostly families, which would make this resort an excellent choice for those with kids up to 12 years, as long as you're not expecting anything fancy.

Room Tip: Be careful booking a garden room for a romantic break - go for a fale instead!

This was our second trip back to Plantation Island (last trip was feb 2010) travelling as 2 adults and 3 kids (8,6,2) as well as our parents and my husband's sister and boyfriend.
We stayed for 7 nights and felt genuinely sad to be leaving this beautiful place. The staff are amazing - a special mention to Tui, Lucy and Ana at the kids club, our normally clingy children were begging us to let them go to Kids Club constantly! Lucy and Ana were our nannies for our youngest (at only $4FJD per hour, what a bargain!) but they also looked out for our other 2 children and formed a close bond very quickly. Very genuine people and we felt more than comfortable leaving our kids in their capable hands!
There was always lots to do on the island- the highlights for us were the giant inflatable (kids loved it and a great workout for us parents!), free kayaking and snorkelling and also the trip to the local village. The village trip cost approx $100FJD but was very worth it to have a genuine Fiji experience, drink some kava and meet children at the school.
Food was great, the Ol Copra Shed wasn't open but the Black Coral restaurant was consistently good - basic food for the kids but they loved it and the Fijian and Mongolian themed buffets were especially good. Did have one less than average meal at Ananadas, but everything else was so good it didn't ruin our experience.
Just be prepared for service in 'Fiji time'. All the staff are very friendly but we did have to wait a considerable amount of time on a couple of occasions. But who cares?! More time to take in the view and smell the frangipanis! The restaurant at nearby resort, Lomani was a nice treat sans kids. Very elegant and romantic, although this is reflected in the price!
We stayed in a garden studio bure which was lovely. The 'garden' is over stated, we essentially walked out of our room straight onto sand and can see the pristine aqua blue water from our door. Heaven! Our other family were staying in the newly renovated 2 bed bures, which I have to say were gorgeous and we will stay there next time. (ask for the 200s)
Overall, a magical holiday in the most beautiful place on earth. We all left having made many new friends and feeling well rested and relaxed.
What more could you ask for?! We will definitely be back. Vinaka!

Me and my husband traveled here for 2010 New Year's Eve and was magical! The entertainment and the big party organised by the resort was outstanding! So much fun and weather was perfect, people are so lovely and friendly, rooms are average, food is good. We really enjoyed our trip to Fiji :)

I stayed here with my husband and 18 month old at the beginning of January 2014. When we arrived the staff were amazing. The location is breathtaking! I was worried about the weather during this time but every day was perfect and the waters are pristine!! So many activities. Highly reccommend the Shell village tour and the snorkelling. We took our baby with us and it was fantastic they were wonderful with children. Take change to the village to purchase from the lovey villagers market stalls.
Yes the rooms are a bit dated and could do with some sprucing. But I cant believe the negative comments on here. Dont listen to them!! We were in the rooms near the activites shed and dining area. The rooms were tidy and comfortable. And the staff were extremley helpful and kind. We highly reccommend this place :)

All the staff on the island were great and made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped off the boat until we got back on it! They were all so friendly can't wait to go back. Stayed in one of the new bure and found it to be modern and the perfect space to rest up for the next days activities. My partner and I will be back again soon vinaka!!

Room Tip: Ask for a new bure, but let's face it you are staying on a beautiful island surrounded by sun an...
