“Peace and tranquility island style”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

Navini Island is a magical place. You are met at the airport anytime of the day or night by Henri, who drives you to where their boat is waiting for you. A short 35 minute trip in the boat has you arriving at this special island, which only has 9 bures, so never crowded. Each bure has it's own comfortable sun loungers and woven umbrella, where you can sit right by the water all day.
There are so many water sport activities, all included at no extra cost, plus morning trips by boat each day, for snorkelling on the reefs, visits to the local village, fishing excursions. There is a meal plan to suit your requirements, and the most special option of dining on your own balcony, or under the stars on the beach. A swim before breakfast was always tempting in the beautiful clear waters of Navini. The staff and owners have been there for many years, some as long as 30 and always remember you by name, such a personal touch.

Room Tip: All bures are on the beach of this small island, swimming possible from every room.

I found Navini Island through TripAdvisor reviews when searching for a small island for our honeymoon. I wanted a quiet retreat to relax at after our wedding. We loved Navini !!! Henry met us at the airport and we took the quick drive down to the marina for our night time boat transfer to the island.. what an experience! Upon arrival we were met by Julie who showed us around the resort and our bure. We chose the premier bure and it was perfect. It was right on the sand, surrounded by lush landscaping which offered full privacy. The bure was large with plenty of room, a fridge, large patio and a great hammock. On the beach we had our own palapa with 2 beach chairs but who needs them when the beach is so beautiful and inviting.

We found the food at the resort to be great and the variety and quality was excellent. Fresh salads, seafood, steaks, chicken and, pasta. The bread and ice cream were made daily and so delicious. There was always a variety to choose from and I loved hearing the drums to let everyone know it was time to eat.

Given this was my husbands first experience on an international vacation I was worried he wouldn't like the food, or the fact there was no TV but he thoroughly enjoyed himself.

Mary, Sulu, Joka and all the staff at the resort were so warm, friendly and accommodating. They always greeted you with Bula and made you feel right at home.

We were fortunate to have a great group of people on the island during our stay and that made our meal conversations very interesting. I enjoy the community dining aspect of the resort.

All in all Loved loved Navini and I hope, budget permitting we will be able to return again soon.

Vinaka to all of the staff at the resort for the amazing last stop on our honeymoon trip!

For the price you pay this is true value for money and if you like it small and relaxed this is the place for you. One hour from Nadi airport you are met by the hilarious Henry then private car (20 min) followed by a 30 min boat ride and you are there. Very stress free. Small and personal place. All ages welcome with something for everyone. Probably not for the party animals. No TV, water safe to drink out of the tap and mb/iphone reception. Inet also available through the resort if you need. Perfect for couples or solo travellers who just want to lie in a big heap, relax and get fed a lot of healthy food. Also would recommend for families who want to get the kids away from the TV and back to nature. Real community/village feel - love that everyone smiles at you and calls you by name. The switched on and highly efficient office staff, Mary, Ragni and Anu will sort out any requests that you have. I bought a bunch of large items from the excellent boutique an hour before I left and they were boxed and on the boat in record time. The reef around the island itself still showing cyclone damage but gorgeous swimming in turquoise waters except at very low tide. A short morning boat ride with the capable and safety conscious Skippers, Ari and Vili (also plays a mean guitar!) offer a variety of snorkelling ops and magical island views as well as resort and village visits. You are always back by 1pm or earlier for lunch. I visited at the end of May and the water temp was perfect plus good visibility but it did get cool when the trade winds blew so take a light jacket and maybe a spring/wet suit if you a real keen snorkeller. No "bities" land or sea either eg sea lice, sand flies or mosquitoes. I had a Premier Bure - loved it! Daily service with fresh flowers. So private and peaceful, brilliant bed and a range of pillows - they will also rearrange the 2 bedroom Bures to any configuration you need up to Bure limit - brilliant! Fabulous healthy food in any quantity you request - just give them notice. Good quality wine selection and a sunset cocktail from the bar is a must. Community dining hosted nightly on my visit by the affable and informative Jiko which is a plus for the solo traveller. Independent dining is also offered. Coconut chopping and sampling will interest those who like seeing skills with a cane knife and / or coconut and the lady guests loved their basket weaving lesson with the handsome Sione.
Highlights for me:
*Looks like Gilligans Island and arriving by small boat is so cool!
*Cloudbreak in action with the Quicksilver Pro Womens Comp - an unexpected treat
*Turquoise waters lapping coconut lined white sandy beach, sunset, the star filled night sky (a star watchers paradise)
*Lovo night and the fired coconut - thank you Mosese
*Clean healthy food and efficient wait staff - special shout out to Joka (also gives an excellent massage - can recommend) and Ana
*Super fun Vidi vidi /Kava nights - thank you "chief" Tukana!
*Any performances of singing and must go to Fiji dance night which was a total hoot!
*All the wonderful and ever helpful smiling staff
Vanaka vaka levu Navini Island. Au lomani iko. Moce. I'll be back.

Room Tip: All are good and private - south side has the best beach

This wonderfully kept, very private, well staffed island resort was a total gem of a find. All the positive reviews on Trip Advisor were as accurate as could be. My wife and I honeymooned there in June 2013 and I was a little nervous because it was smaller than the large resorts, but that is what makes it so amazing, because you have almost all the amenities of a large resort with the privacy and seclusion of an exotic hideaway. We barely ever saw anyone else on the island (unless we wanted to at volleyball time... which was a blast).

The food was so delicious. Three words: homemade ice cream. Two more words: gluten free. I am gluten intolerant, but they had no problem at all accommodating me, and even went out of their way to make bread substitutes available for me at every meal. And boy were they good meals. While they may have a somewhat limited selection on any particular day, they usually have at least three choices for lunches and dinners, so you can try seafood, a regular dish (chicken, pasta, etc.), and then another vegetarian type of meal for those who want lighter fare. The meals were all so good.

Lastly, it is truly a place to relax and enjoy. It was never boring as there were always things to do, but mainly we just relaxed and took in the awesomeness of being on a private island in the South Pacific. We have such good memories of that place. Be sure to purchase some souvenirs from the service desk area. Not just because they are reasonably priced, but because they will remind you of one of the best places/resorts you can find on the Earth (and I am not exaggerating).

Room Tip: All the rooms are good as they are all private. The main criteria for picking which room number you...

A really beautiful island paradise with very warm and welcoming staff. Will definitely return one day. The food was also excellent. Highly recommend this to couples and families alike. The rooms are spacious with fresh flowers daily and the daily trips, water sports, volleyball and nightly Kava provide plenty of entertainment.

We took our adult family of 8 plus baby here and it was perfect for that. There was enough for everyone to do even though the island is so small. The staff will do what they can to accommodate your wishes for boat trips to elsewhere like good coral reefs nearby. For us it would be too quiet for just a couple but for others who want total relaxation it would be good. Even walking through the sand pathways and hibiscus and frangipani was relaxing. There are phone and data signals here by satellite so get your sims or dongles at Vodafone at Nadi airport first. There are no mosquitoes (a good thing as there has been some recent dengue fever on the main island) or daytrippers. Also the staff will pick you up anytime day or night from Nadi airport or main island to take you there which avoids the wasted night at Nadi. The snorkelling is ok - you see good fish although the coral has been wrecked by cyclone and there was some sea lice, not a huge issue. Great coral is on nearby reefs they take you to. You can relax totally here and at times may even have the island to yourself and staff. The bures are ok and close to the water. The ones on the south side are better for swimming and are a bit cooler but it takes no time to get anywhere. Walking around the island is beautiful but a bit hard at high tide. I had not relaxed so much for 35 years and stopped mentally and physically - therapeutic!

4th time for us and it feels like coming home - for all our ages ranging from 19 to 72! Great fresh food with choices for everyone's likes, genuinely friendly smiles and staff everywhere, Great accommodation with daily cleaning services and lots of privacy, enough watersport and tour activities on offer and if that's not enough for you, staff will do everything possible to make you happy. The only reason why we wouldn't leave too much praise is so Navini won't be overbooked one day and as usual one favour to the management - please don't change anything drastic, keep it the small private and special jewel for years to come! We will be back….
