We stayed in this house in April for 9 days.
This house is a reasonably sized 3 bedroom villa but is not newly built as described. It is an older home badly renovated and patched together in places, particularly the bathroom/laundry.
The bedrooms were air conditioned and had large very comfortable beds although the pillows were far too solid to be comfortable. Bedside tables would be a improvement though. Lots of hanging and storage space. There was sufficient clean linen.
We had to share one air conditioner remote control between two bedroom which made it inconvenient if you wanted to regulate it during the night and then the battery went flat on that one. No spares.
Considering the villa can sleep 6 and we had 5 in our group it would have been nice to have more that 4 dinning room chairs, (1 in need of repair) 4 forks, 1 wine glass. The crockery and saucepans were obviously someone’s cast offs and not sufficient. There was no toaster or can opener. The caretaker did bring a large saucepan and toaster after we rang her.
There is a large kitchen (no plug in sink) and a very comfortable lounge and the lounge/dinning/Kitchen area has double doors either side. There is no air conditioning only a little pedestal fan. When the room heated up we couldn’t even go outside due to the lack of seating outside. The light bulbs still hadn’t been replaced.
The gas hot water system stopped working twice and needed looking at. All 5 of us had issues trying to regulate an even flow of hot and cold water. Putting a child under the shower would be a risk.
The first time we used the washing machine (which must be new as it’s an automatic) the house flooded - it was plumbed incorrectly. After using string to tie the outlet into the hand basin we were able to use it without anymore issues.
The dishwasher kept having error codes and wouldn’t work. Discovered that there was a kinked hose at the back but still had issues.
We had to do repairs to two door handles so we could shut them, where the screws fell out - bedroom and front door. The linen cupboard doors could do with a paint and didn’t close properly.
There is a large double fridge with cold water and ice dispenser, although we couldn’t get the ice maker to work.
The pool is reasonably well maintained and has a nice shaded gazebo, although there is absolutely no seating of any type outside so we couldn’t sit round the pool or under the gazebo which was very disappointing. The decking around the pool does have some nails sticking up.
The garage can not be used as it has too much rubbish in it to get the car in.
The front steps have broken tiles on them that are extremely slippery when wet.
A list of basic instructions (not just the manuals) on how to work appliances, tv and WiFi would be good.
If the villa was given a bit of thorough maintenance and a good paint to cover patch ups, a new matching set of cutlery, Crocker and saucepans, more dining room chairs and an outdoor setting it would be a much more appealing rental.
Ms Manju, the caretaker was accommodating and extremely apologetic and tried to help where she could but the owner does need to do more.
I stayed hea and its nice clean and nice pool and the area is secure with luxirous bed gardens are nice and pretty restaurants and shops were all walking distance as per details
First impression on the house was that it was perfect for our stay, The owner what very quick in responding to any enquiries I had. However after a couple of day's you can start to notice somethings that aren't quite right... I did bring a few things to the owners attention... The water would not run warm, it would only be boiling hot or cold. The pillows were like sleeping on bricks! The kitchen was unclean in the draws, I found a cockroach in the chopping block, I felt like I need to wash all of the cutlery and crockery before using it. There was no connection to the free to air tv, Not all of the lights had light bulbs. No dishwasher. There was a black out and the torch that was in the cupboard had no batteries. The washing machine is a twin tub machine and no instructions were left on how to use it. Upon our departure we were looking behind/under beds etc and found a used condom... Another thing I thought was quite strange was that they had family photos in the house.
If they were to to make a few changes and maintain the upkeep of the home, I think that this would be a great place to stay. Another recommendation would be to have an information document for guests that stay to let them know how to use things and where the nearest restaurants are and what the number is for the taxi stand etc.
I was in touch with the owner and the property manager and they were both very nice and very apologetic when i brought the above to their attention.
