“Can do Better”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

Garden view room was dreadful and non-sanitary when we checked in. no towels ,soap & shampoo were available. Department manager should have checked appropriately prior to . Since the construction is going on, very chaotic and limited to the beautiful marina surroundings. The pool was nice and the cocktails were nice. Not much things to do as everything was closed?...The gym and tennis court! Breakfast was horrible and when asked for scramble eggs the chef says he can make only pouch eggs? Omg why be a chef if you don’t know the basics. Sorry to say not worth my money however the upside is, it has a superb buffet BBQ lunch on Sunday and the music band Talei burns is just excellent….the chef doing the bbq meat section she’s very stubborn awful attitude. Won’t be planning to stay here again…..possibly after the construction but I’ll prefer uprising resort better.

We had purchased this accommodation on Cudo as a deal so we were very nervous about it… We shouldn't have been! It was so amazing… not only the resort but the staff. The staff are incredible and made us feel at home. They go out of their way to make sure you are okay and gave us lots of advice on places to shop, see and eat! We loved the 2 restaurants at The Pearl and The Golf Course! A lot of tours leave front the pearl and booking them is so easy at the resort too. We unfortunately didn't get to do the village visit due to miscommunication but on the staff members took us too his village so that was so lovely. The Spa is a must do, we have massages done through the ladies there and they were Bliss. We honestly have nothing to complain about… I read the reviews on here and were a little scared but honestly its what you make of your holiday! The rooms were nice but who cares anyway your only in there too sleep! Thankyou so much for making our holiday amazing Pearl! We will defiantly be back! :) <3

Room Tip: 3rd Floor and we stayed furthest from the pool

I spent 4 days at the Pearl Pacific Resort, on March 6-10. To secure the reservation, before arriving to the resort, I was asked to provide my credit card details, and I was charged once for the stay. When checking out, the Front Desk Manager confirmed that my credit card was not charged previously and he charged the room for the second time! Now it's one and half months that I try to get the money back, but no answer from the resort, and no money back... Are they crooks!?

This is a great small resort, however it is starting to feel outdated and in need of an upgrade which it is receiving and to be finished in a year. We were in a standard room on the bottom floor, my parents in a suite on the top. The bottom floor has the advantage of being able to walk out into the gardens while the suite has a separate lounge/dining area, small balcony, king size bed and a bath. Both room are comfortably appointed, housekeeping may be a little random however staff respond quickly to requests for housekeeping and room service. Rooms are a little pricey and there is no backpacker options here I'm afraid.

This is a great place to relax by the pool, swim in the ocean, take a kayak, get a treatment at the spa, down a few cocktails. It is also nearby to many other sightseeing adventures; golf, Beqa Diving, Navua River, Suva city, so is a good place to base yourself on the eastern side of Viti Levu. The food can be a little blase and feels like standard bistro food, though can be very nice when they have a special occasion on. The staff are great here and very helpful and all in all I highly recommend The Pearl to everyone.

Room Tip: Bottom floor is cheaper and has outdoor access with a small table and chairs. Upstairs is bigger ins...

We stayed here in late March 2014. We upgraded to the penthouse suite which gives guests a separate lounge and dining room and large king size bed and full size bath. There are no kitchen facilities but tea and coffee making is available. The only down side is the balcony is almost unuseable as it is far too small I am not sure if they are marked for some refurb or renovation.

Every staff member is wonderful - they are friendly and funny and do their best to make sure you enjoy your stay.

The Pearl is in the middle of a huge renovation and is due for completion late 2015. I look forward to returning and seeing how it all looks. Also hope for new linen, towels and furniture in the existing rooms as they are looking a bit tired.

The beach is great for swimming. Unfortunately this time they had experienced a cyclone which had dumped whole trees - timber etc the whole length of the beach. They had staff out every day cleaning it down and burning off what they could. Each morning the staff would return to see a new lot of debris on the beach and them having to start all over again. We still swam as the water is beautiful.

The food is not five star but good and plenty of variety and not as expensive as the resorts on Denarau, also the drinks are cheaper. Wine is really expensive but that is consistant thoughout Fiji. They are putting in a seafood restaurant with the new renovations. You are also in walking distance to the Arts Village which has three or four food outlets and the Uprising Resort along the beach is also good for lunch or dinner. There is a great golf course associated with the Pearl and is very tough. I lost 9 balls. You can take a trip to Suva, do the Sigatoka River cruise or the Zip line or simply sit back and relax.

This side of the main island is the real Fiji with many little villages giving us a glimpse of their real lives, which I think are pretty tough. Yet they all smile which those incredible white teeth wave and greet with Bula.

Vinaka (thank you) to the Pearl - we will be back.

Room Tip: Go for the Penthouse suites if you can afford it otherwise the ground floor ocean view are great.

This was our third visit to The Pearl and we won't return until the building works are completed probably early 2016 if it does not rain too much.
Again we stayed in a Penthouse suite which was an upgrade for which we are appreciative. However the downside to this is that it, like all top floor rooms does not have a balcony big enough for chairs and has no roof.
These rooms are now desperately in need of a make-over as they are starting to look quite dirty especially the lounge and carpets.
The housekeeping is also very hit and miss with products not being replaced and only one face washer for our entire stay (may have been fine if there was one each).
These rooms also suffer from very bad design in and around the bathroom which does not offer appropriate privacy. They need to put up some walls and move or lose the bathtub!!!
The breakfast is also the same as the last 2 times and they need to be more creative- water is not even offered unless you wish to purchase it.
Overall the food is not bad but needs improvement in some areas, for example, we ate at Mantarae restaurant one evening and my wife's meal was fine but my serve of Mahi Mahi fish was so overcooked I could not eat it. When the waitress asked how my food was I explained the situation and showed her the meal. With great disinterest she took the plate and I was never offered a replacement or no charge. It was only after I said that I would not pay for it that she seemed to take any notice. At best the food here can best be described as Club/Pub bistro with a few highlights such as the mudcrab dishes and a wicked peanut butter desert.
The staff here are fantastic (if sometimes a bit slow during happy hour) and make up for some of the shortfalls.
Prices are very reasonable though and the beach is normally wonderful (we got the end of a cyclone and much debris on beach) the water warm and usually clear.
The management team members such as Josepha are very helpful.
The golf course still offers a challenge, many extra balls needed and the food at lunch - well a good hamburger should probably have a burger bun that has not spent much time in the freezer.
We had lunch one day at The Uprising a resort down the beach and the food was excellent with good variety. Also try the Waters Edge at the Village.
To conclude, having stayed 3 times now we are probably in a fair position to try and give the reader a balanced view of this resort which we still consider with great affection.
Vinaka to all at The Pearl.

The resort itself was fantastic, the pool was a clear sparkling blue and the facilities, tennis courts, were great. One of the main highlights of my trip turned out to be the staff at the Pearl, and the Fijian people. The staff went above and beyond their duties to be friendly and make us feel welcomed.

Defiantly coming back!
