“Not too bad”
Reviewed 20 September 2012

Clearly, it's not the best I've ever been to, but it does fulfill its purpose!
For the price it was definitely ok, although I would avoid the breakfast there..
The WiFi policy is a pain in the ... but it does work well (compared to other hotels where the speed is just painfully slow).
The Location is perfect for Puxi, very close to Jing'An Temple and close to West Nanjing Road.

I definitely give it a recommendation!

We, 2 families of 4 siblings, stayed at this hotel while on a 8 days Shanghai/Beijing Trip from 1 Sep 2012. The hotel has a 5 star rating plaque but somehow we can't concur on that - a four star rating might be more appropriate in our opinion.

The rooms are clean and of decent size. It is not near the major shopping belts but a metro (Jingan temple station) is very nearby and that's a plus point for we travelled by metro/high speed trains most of the time.

The hotel room has no free wi-fi and my brother-in-law was disappointed that wi-fi is not free at the lobby area too.

Can't comment on the F&B there as we eat out everyday. All in all, a pleasant stay.

I have been in this hotel months!
It is a good business hotel and could be anyway a good option also for tourists.
It is located 2 minutes walking distance from Jingan Temple (and mtr of course) it has reasonable price, rooms are clean, big enough and everything is in efficient conditions.
Is not a fancy looking or stylish hotel, but for business and short stays would do.
The service is not excellent but I guess for this price and in that area choices are limited.
There is wi-fi in the room, IT is a little troublesome to activate it as you need to call the reception to get the password (that changes every day).
Some rooms are not properly covered, but most of them do.
Of course remember that in China twitter, facebook will not be acessible!
The only alternative with better service and similar rates (but not as close to Jingan) is Nikko Hotel.
Cheers
Filippo

Stayed 3 nights when family visited Shanghai, it has everything you would expect from any urban hotel, but with a old style feeling, room was bright and clean. Very convenient for metro, dinning and shopping. Staffs were friendly and professional enough but not very warm. Compare with other hotels in Shanghai, this one's value is not bed.

Room Tip: Request room at higher level to have a better view of Shanghai's city center.

This is a beautiful hotel in one of the best locations in Shanghai. The staff was very helpful and the restaurants were excellent. The rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculate. The breakfasts were among the best in China.

Stayed at the Swissotel Grand Shanghai for a week in May when visiting family in Shanghai. I cannot praise the hotel and the staff highly enough. Nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were first class, as you'd expect from a 5-star hotel with the Swissotel brand. Staff were incredibly helpful - for example, with taxis (making sure that the taxi drivers knew exactly my destinations), recommending places to visit, organising train tickets - very important for me as I was travelling on my own by train to Beijing, this being my first visit to China. Despite the hustle and bustle of the streets, my hotel room was quiet. The rooms were faultlessly clean. Free access to the internet was available whenever I enquired. Lovely swimming pool and spa facilities on the fifth floor. As a woman travelling on my own, I felt very comfortable in all the hotel's public spaces. And the hotel is situated just around the corner from the modern subway system in Shanghai. Although expensive, this hotel was definitely worth the outlay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors are probably quieter and have superb views over the city.
