“The amazing old-styled housing of Shanghai "Xin Tian Di"”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

This place is in a historic area of Shanghai and yet it is located within the city center. The first thing I noticed about this amazing area is its unique antique walls with arch stone gates under the shade of beautiful big trees lining up the street. From what I read, Xin Tian Di represents a place where the past has met the present. The old-styled buildings look amazing with narrow alleys along with them. The exterior of these buildings might look very antique but the inside is definitely not. I walked into a few boutiques and cafes and found that they look quite contemporary. Anyhow, the whole place is amazing and I couldn't help but taking a lot of photos of this beautiful corner of Shanghai.

“Historical”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

This is an important historical part of the Shanghai culture, and it makes Shanghai such a unique city of old (such as the French concession) meeting new (such as the financial district). Well worth visiting with a tour guide or good tour book.

“Worth a visit, but beware!”
Reviewed 29 November 2013

The area has many interesting buildings (including an early meeting place for the Chinese Communist party). Many are now restaurants and bars. Do watch the prices though - a large German beer cost over £8! Check before you commit yourself to a purchase.

“Fastinating”

It is very interesting to see how they lived back in the early days. Tall buildings and narrow streets. Some fun little stores.

“World Fare”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

The French Concession offers lots of international offerings for your taste buds, but it doesn't come cheap. You can find French, Brazilian, Turkish, Mexican, Indian and Arabic restaurants. There are also lots of Night Clubs around as well. Definitely a place to check out if you like the night life.
