“Stunning...but so, so expensive”
Reviewed 29 July 2011

Recently spent a long weekend here and really enjoyed it. The rooms were huge (we stayed in the smallest size) and the bathrooms were just amazing. My partner was less impressed with the all singing and dancing toilet with its automatic lid and Christmas lights, but I think that was just down to his age...

The views were spectacular but beware of the window cleaners! They drift down with no warning!

Just the cost really. It was A LOT. I'm still not sure it was quite completely worth it... Don't think I'd be up for a repeat visit, but I like the idea of sleeping above the clouds.

Recently spent 4 nights on the 83rd floor with views of the Bund and Grand Hyatt and was completely amazed.
The following made the stay unforgettable:
1. Spectacular views of Shanghai with the odd cloud just floating past you!
2.The best hotel bathroom I have ever seen: television embedded in bathroom mirror; huge bath that can comfortably accomodate two; an amazing rain shower and a toilet with an automatic lid!
3.The bed was cozy, carpetting plush, and the room climate control was spot on.
4.Tonnes of storage space and really fast internet which was free.
5. The gym though small was tastily decorated and had modern easy to use machines. Heavier dumbells (>10kg) are needed.
6. Swimming pool and hot tub really good.
7. Staff were exceptionally good and very attentive.
The few negatives I have are:
1. Food in the restaurants seemed pricey including breakfast and spa treatments were quite expensive.
2. Room service menu seemed more affordable but limited choice on the menu.
3. Hotel pick up service seemed overpriced. Whereas a private taxi from the airport arrivals hall (airconditioned Buick) charges RMB 350 from Pudong Airport, the hotel limo charges started at 650 (BMW/Mercedes).

Room Tip: Go for the Bund views.

Really cant think of anything to fault the place on - service, beverages, food, fitness etc where spot on

Excellent bedrooms (get a view toward Bund)

Good service

Good dining options - with views

Morning runs (6am) down to river and back were surprisingly quiet

Stayed here for 3 nights as a Hyatt Diamond member using a Suite Upgrade. An exquisite experience. The hotel is in the Shanghai World Financial Center, and occupies the 79-93rd (or something like that) floors. In fact, some tour books list the SWFC and its view as one of the must see attractions in Shanghai. We arrived and were taken through the entrance areas, which are decorated in a lovely cool and mellow silver/brown combo with soft lighting. The elevator then takes you to the 87th floor lobby (took 53 seconds..it moves) to check in. We checked in and were taken by a different elevator to our suite on the 83rd floor.

We received a ~1400 sq ft Park Suite as the standard suite upgrade. Superb. The decor of the suite was great, with wood panelling and a very nice vibe to it overall. There were 2 bathrooms, both outfitted with the excellent high end motorized toilets that have seat warmers, water/fan for washing the backside, air circulation, etc. They also auto lift the seat and flush when you approach/walk away. The main bathroom was very large, with an awesome walk in shower area that housed the shower and a seperate tub, and could hold 6 people. The shower was a very very great rain shower that provided an awesome high power rain shower, which I love. It also sported an excellent gray stone floor and wall, and was very nicely done. The shampoo/conditioner product was Aromatherapy brand and my wife, for the first time at ANY hotel, was pleased with it and commented on the quality of the shampoo/conditioner. The bedroom was very large and had a very large and comfortable bed. The suite sported spectacular views of the Bund and the Pudong area. They provided us with a little tray of some tasty treat each day after the room was refreshed, starting with a delicious pineapple tart.

As a Diamond member, breakfast was included, and the PH Shanghai had the best breakfast I have ever had at a hotel, hands down, to say nothing for certainly being the best Diamond breakfast. The awesome breakfast buffet included, but not limited to: 4 or 5 varieties of bao, fried noodles, congee, some awesome french toast, pancakes, varieties of fresh juices, waffles with fresh blueberries, strawberry sauce, chocolate sauce and honey, 5 yogurt combinations with fruits and other things mixed in, egg/potato tarts, quality cold cuts, fresh fruits, mushrooms, fresh hot ham, bacon, eggs, sausage, salmon, at least 10 different breads/pastries, and I am sure more I forget. Delicious, and honestly at 240 yuan each, would be well worth it. Also, the view from the 91st floor for breakfast is awesome.

Now, the complaints! There has to be something...incredibly minor as they were. First, our room was noisy. The room itself was noisy, not the surrounding area. It would creak and pop and snap all the time, and sometimes very loudly. I am not sure if it was the windows, or the building itself due to the altitude, but it sounded like a house settling at night. Very strange but it was not enough to really bother us. Second...there was something else, but honestly I cannot remember it now. Something very minor as I recall. A superb stay at a superb hotel. It is about a 5 minute walk to the subway station which is nice, and there are several restaurants, a pharmacy and other such stores in the bottom of the building which is nice. I paid about $370 a night which was well worth it.

This hotel had a really wow-factor! The lobby has a tasteful decor and the room was one of the best I've experienced. The room was Very comfortable with a great skyline view, the bathroom was so luxurious. The large shower head was quite an experience! The toilet was separate from the shower and it was electronic!

The pool was beautiful and the spa very soothing, but we expected a more pampered treatment. The technicians didn't show us the bathroom before our treatment and we didn't enjoy the sauna and it's amenities.

The hotel's restaurant was superb, we loved the Asian breakfast with congee, dim sum and noodles and the Western buffet was well served. There were lots of expats at night since there is a nightclub.

They really nailed the best of the West with the East!

Stayed in the Park Hyatt for one evening. The hotel is extremely modern and well maintained. Staying at the Park Hyatt Shanghai has an ethereal like quality since you're over 80 stories above the hustle and bustle and there is no street noise whatsoever. The hotel rooms are very quiet, with a lot of cool features. It is a premium hotel, at a premium price. The food in the restaurant on the top floor is excellent.

We selected the Park Hyatt based on other reviews, and were not disappointed. Its an amazingly elegant and stylish hotel. Much smaller than the Grand Hyatt across the road (which has I think over 500 rooms). The Park Hyatt has less than 200... The staff are attentive (without being over bearing), and all speak excellent english.
The rooms are absolutely amazing. We stayed on the 81st floor, with a view of the Bund... well we would have had a view, except it rained most of the 4 days we were there, so saw very little. I suspect that due to the pollution and rain, its probably quite common not to see much in Shanghai... But none the less the room was amazing - huge and oh so comfortable bed. The nespresso machine is a nice touch. The shower is huge, with rainforest shower for two...
Whilst we had a small issue when checking in, it was quickly resolved and we were upgraded to the next room. Very professional.
Additionally the conceirge made numerous bookings at various restaurants for us.
All in all I'd have no hestiation to recommend this hotel.
It is in Pudong, on the other side of the river, but only a short walk to the subway station and 1 stop to East Nanjing Road.
