Traveling to China for business I decided to go earlier than my colleagues in order to get over the jet lag before our meetings. Thankfully I chose the Puli as my refuge traveling alone in Shanghai!! After an exhausting 15 hour plane ( and I was in Business Class!!) I was met by the Hotel driver and whisked away thru the crowded arrivals area and taxi lines. ( best money i ever spent was getting a driver to the hotel!) I was met by the hotel staff and brought directly to my beautiful room without having to "check-in" downstairs . nice touch when you are so tired. The room is so Zen like and very comfortable. The lighting is perfect and the bed so comfortable! Loved the free min-bar and snacks, Nespresso machine and tea pot. The bath is heaven! Not to be picky but I do have to say there is an artificial perfume like smell in the room and throughout the hotel ( but this was the same at Waldorf Astoria - second hotel ( separate review) - and I think just the way it is in China ( although Not at Amanfayun ( another separate review). I'm sensitive to smells . Room service was exceptional ! Fitness Center - top notch , overlooking the park where you can see the Chinese practicing their Tai Chi Right below you as you run on the treadmill. The neighborhood was great with lots of shopping and easy access to restaurants - awesome sushi bar right on the parkway. The spa was wonderful , had a very good massage and foot treatment , not as expensive as I expected, also you can use the facilities ,sauna, steam room and jacuzzi which are all very good( except have that same artificial perfume smell:( )
The long bar is Wonderful!! Love the candles and ambiance ! Business center is very good- had trouble downloading files through my Gmail but not the fault of the hotel- Google is heavily censored by the Chinese so expect some frustration if you operate with Google in China. The hotel staff was great though and had their whole I.T. Team trying to help me.
If you travel to China for business or pleasure - The Puli is an exceptional choice!!!
