Description: Specializing in Shanghai local cuisine, Ye Olde Station Restaurant is located in a building constructed in 1926 which is the only remaining main part of the original building of the Virgin Mary Convent. The current collections on display in the restaurant include “old Shanghai antiques” in the 1920s and 1930s, along with the two historically significant train carriages, one courtesy coach manufactured by German Hanover Train Manufacturer in 1899, which was for royal use by Empress Dowager Cixi, and the other was manufactured by Russian Yekaterinburg Coach Manufacturing Company, and once served for Soong Ching-ling, or Madame Sun Yat-sen.

Food varied, well prepared and presented. Modern tablets show the pictures and guide you in your choices. Waitresses and waiters are deliciaste and very attentive.

We had drinks and dinner in early July and sat in the main restaurant.

The food was great and presented very well.

The service however was very slow and poor. We were presented with an iPad with not a word of direction. It took a while to navigate the menu (as it was in Chinese), and we guessed that you would be able to submit the order remotely, however this was not the case. For a restaurant of this standard better and friendlier assistance from wait staff was expected.

Located 5 minutes from Xujiahui Metro station and the vast amount of shopping centres - Grand Gateway, Pacific, Metro, 66 etc., just down the Caoxi Road, you find a little of old Shanghai on the old railway station.

The building is beautiful and has lots of character - the service is really very good and food is to a very good standard. As my hosts paid, I can’t comment on the value, but I would go back

A great shanghai vibe when visiting Shanghai.
Wonderful old world Shanghai decor in an old museum and with an old carriage that you can book and enjoy your meal in. Very interesting experience.
The food is delicious and the service is very good.
Mid priced food (although I suppose everything is relative) but not too bad and the atmosphere makes it worth visiting.
