“second visit- just as good.”
Reviewed 18 August 2013

What a great location- right next to the Bund, with water views from the room, which somehow was still quiet. Very well equipped hotel, with little luxury touches. Got a good rate which helped, as I expect it might sometimes be on the expensive side.

This is a nice, chic hotel just on the southern end of the Bund. Lots to see and do nearby. The service was good, and the breakfast buffet is nice too. Very high tech room. It's not the Peninsula, but its at such a good rate that I was just as happy here. Just cross the street and you're on the Bund pedestrian mall. It fits in well with the architecture on the rest of the Bund too.

Location wise, it's absolutely fantastic! it's right on the Bund, just opposite the elevated pedestrianised walkway/promenade, from where you can enjoy the amazing views of the high tech area of Shanghai with the awe inspiring sky scrapers city line. The only drawback is that it so happens that it is not so close to a tube station and that can be a problem, with the hot climate and intolerable moisture of Shanghai, given that a tourist will inevitably have to use the tube to transfer about within the city, to visit the sights and all.
Rooms are very good indeed. They are cleaned thoroughly, bed linen is changed on a daily basis, tea and coffee sachets as well as toiletries nave failed to be replenished! Don't worry, nice soft mattresses and excellent quality of bedlinen make sure that you have a five star sleep! The mini bar fridge is not electronic, which is good and comes handy for someone who wishes to keep something inside to chill it up and keep it cold. The bathroom of the room they had appointed to us had some amazing views of the Bund, with a bathtub and a separate shower booth and a flat screen tv fixed on the wall. Also the toilette seat was equipped with a special high tech modern cleaning system which was user friendly, easy to handle, and helped keep one's personal hygiene. Room lighting is very pleasantly atmospheric and controlled through a console fixed on each bedside table, which will only take a few minutes of your time to get the hang of. Ample light, however is not possible, so that can be a problem should you wish to have bright light for one reason or another, especially when looking for something in the chaos of your suitcase ;) !
Windows do not open but the air conditioning is excellent, which can prove to be a godsend after a long and sizzling day out sightseeing. .
The service of the hotel is five star, very friendly indeed, helpful and with no attitude, if you know what I mean. Just pay attention to your initial demonstration of the hotel facilities when you are first received by the staff, right after check-in at reception and you should be just fine. The staff is there only should you need it, not pushy at all and quite discreet! The whole system by which the hotel is run is laid back which eventually adds to your comfort. Note that there is a complimentary system from 5pm onwards I think (but do ask about the time because my memory is not that good), for all the guests, according to which there are snacks, fruit, coffee and delicacies laid our and made available at the business centre for everyone to enjoy. You will be given details by the person showing around the hotel and eventually into your room, upon check-in, don't worry! Breakfast is served one level down from the third floor of the building where the reception actually is. The ground floor always has a porter, behind a counter and arty decoration on the walls, but nothing else. The whole ground floor is basically used as an entrance to the hotel. there are two lifts. One at the ground floor that takes you only as far as the hotel reception which as I said is on the third floor and after you come out at the reception area there is another elevator which leeds to the room floors of the hotels. One small drawback: their breakfast cannot boast a variety of dishes. In fact it has rather a limited choice of food and that is made even worse by the fact that the existing food is rather asian oriented with only a limited choice compatible with the western palates (there is no yellow cheese and ham-which is a shame, considering the quality level of the other than that five star presentation of the existing dishes! I can't think why!). It is definitely not a five star breakfast!
In a nutshell, if walking to the tube is no problem (taxis are cheap-ish in Shanghai), do go! You will love it!

We picked this hotel because of the numerous amazing reviews and they are all true. I've stayed in other 4-5star hotels and what made them different is the 24hour lounge with free coffee, tea, pastries and fruits. Service was superb, we requested for extra robe, slippers and it was brought in our room within minutes. I think the hotel paid attention to every needs of customers because even the tiniest details like providing a soft rug beside the bed, about 6-8 bottled water was provided in the room because we stayed during summer and it was scorching hot. Hotel staff Luke even said that they will provide us with bottled water every time we go out. I never experienced that with other hotels

Location is also very good, right across Bund area and ferry terminal if you want to try Huangpu river cruise. I guess the only "negative" I can say is that if you stay at Les Suites... you wouldnt wanna leave anymore :)

This is the best hotel I've ever stayed. I like travelling alone, been here twice, usually my purpose of travel is to enjoy solo time at luxury hotels. I will say Les Suites Orient is the best! To stay at LSO is one of the reasons I visit Shanghai honestly. The view at LSO is unbeatable for sure, also the service. eg. the GM will greet you in the lobby, stand in front of the lift to say goodbye to you...bellmen and front desk staff are very friendly, as well as the janitor..

I fell in love with the shampoo and shower gel at Les Suites, after my first stay when I came back home, I emailed the staff asking if I can buy them somewhere. And I bought a set on Gilcrest & Somerest's website. Guess what, after checking in at my second stay of LSO (half year after the first stay), I found there were extra 2 sets of shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom right for me!

Although there's no swimming pools/spa at LSO like other luxury hotels, I like it's tranquil environment very much. It's lobby is on the 3rd floor, main entrance is quite private so there won't be any "walk-in' people around. Coffee/tea/cookies are complimentary 24/7 at the hotel lounge, this is a great asset once you want to chill a little bit at the lounge overlooking the river and skyscrapers, at any time.

LSO is apparently small, but the decors and ambiance is totally my cup of tea: tranquil, relaxing, simple luxury. The bed is extremely comfortable. Bed sheets are very clean and fresh. And I like the deep soaking tub too. Toilet is very hi-tech.

Breakfast is complimentary too, not much choice but good enough to start your day. Service is always excellent.

Location is unbeatable. Right on the famous bund, very close to Nanjing Rd, ferry dock is just across street. There are banks, restaurants, 24/7 stores within walking distance.

Can't wait to visit LSO again!

Room Tip: higher floors; bund view at the tub

My recent visit to Shanghai i decided to stay on The Bund to enjoy the views and it is exactly what I got with this hotel. It was a wonderful stay, the staff was attentive but not intrusive, food was really good and the location was amazing. It is close to all you want at The Bund, either walk or a short taxi ride away. What made my stay was the views. Definitely worth a stay.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for the view. Noise from the street and ferries could be a little challenging if...

Words cannot begin to describe this hotel, so will do our best. From the moment we arrived the door was opened and we were greeted by staff with the biggest smiles ever, taken to level 3, The Lobby for check in. We would like to commend the Front Office Manager and her dedicated team who made our stay one of the most memorable ones we have had to date. The service, food, housekeeping, and concierge services were commendable. Our room was amazing with river views, couldn't get any better. Have to say, the staff also sorted out our issues we had with items made by a local tailor, a big THANK YOU, they went above and beyond their duty. A great location, handy to everywhere. We will be back to stay. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Request a river side view, they evenings are magical with all the lights.
