“Low price, good location, sad rooms”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2013

This hotel has two locations near each other, and this review is for 427 Sichuan Road (the annex), which is their cheaper hotel. The location is the best part about the hotel, right by the bund. There are 4 stories and no elevator. Since you'll be hearing lots of honking and street noise, you may actually want to be on the 4th floor if you can do the stairs, and/or bring earplugs. The rooms are as basic as you get, and small. Everything in the room is beaten up and well used. Because of smoking and humidity there was a slight dank smell in the room. I was amazed at the bad paint job and all the stains on the wall. The flat screen TV was flat, but it was still an old CRT tube. Bed is hard as a rock. The AC worked, which I'm grateful for. The staff was fine and typically cold in the usual Chinese way. Overall, I wanted to stay near the Bund for one night and spend as little as possible. That's exactly what I got here. They currently charge 268 RMB (including taxes) for their smallest room with a double bed. If I were to stay longer, I'd look for a more comfortable room.

We stopped here for 12 nights, where the hotel is a little basic, it makes up for it with its location. 2 minute walk to the Nanjing Road and 5 minutes to the Bund. The room was small and the first room did not have a wardrobe, but they happily moved us to a room that was adequate. View from the window was entertaining. A junction which was amazingly busy, can honestly say some sights we have seen you would not have seen anywhere else. This hotel is ideally positioned for most attractions. Metro station is a 5 minute walk. A good little cafe/restaurant opposite the hotel which did very good cheap food. Supermarket under the hotel, sells most foods and they heat for free. Overall a good hotel

Room Tip: Ensure you book a room with a window. Internal rooms do not have a window and watching the traffic...

This hotel has severe humidity problems (smell of mold and large stains in ceilings), simple rooms and hard beds. The place is very noisy throughout the night. Also, this was the only hotel in our trip to China, not having WiFi available anywhere in the Hotel area.

On the other hand, the accommodation is cheap, very close to good shopping area, and only couple of blocks from nearest metro station for line 2, connecting to Pudong international airport.

So, if you need a resting place for a single night before or after your flight, this might be the place for you, but for a longer stay I would not recommend.

Walls are terrible dirty, room very small (could not pull my suitcase trough between bed and cupboard, too narrow !), the whole hotel leaves a poor impression. We would never return , it`s not at all worth the rate !

Room Tip: Price much too high for what you get ! Walls terrible dirty, room very small (could not pull my suit...
