This hotel has two locations near each other, and this review is for 427 Sichuan Road (the annex), which is their cheaper hotel. The location is the best part about the hotel, right by the bund. There are 4 stories and no elevator. Since you'll be hearing lots of honking and street noise, you may actually want to be on the 4th floor if you can do the stairs, and/or bring earplugs. The rooms are as basic as you get, and small. Everything in the room is beaten up and well used. Because of smoking and humidity there was a slight dank smell in the room. I was amazed at the bad paint job and all the stains on the wall. The flat screen TV was flat, but it was still an old CRT tube. Bed is hard as a rock. The AC worked, which I'm grateful for. The staff was fine and typically cold in the usual Chinese way. Overall, I wanted to stay near the Bund for one night and spend as little as possible. That's exactly what I got here. They currently charge 268 RMB (including taxes) for their smallest room with a double bed. If I were to stay longer, I'd look for a more comfortable room.
