“Food is westernised versions of oriental dishes, service very slow”
Reviewed 27 September 2012 via mobile

Located in area full of bars, restaurants for expats and wealthy chinese, this place is for those who want to overpay for weak imitations of Asian fusion.

Some dishes work (lamb chops), most don't. Everyone gets their own plate, knives and forks out and you might as well be in Birmingham.

Service is extremely slow and inefficient. Prices very expensive.

“Beautiful place but heavy on wallet”
Reviewed 21 June 2012

If money is not your concern this is d place to hang out.
Beautiful, impeccable and spotless environment with good service to impress your guests from home or abroad. The restaurant is split into different levels, with level one housing the cafe and bar and level two,the restaurant.
The theme of the restaurant is unique with many cosy and romantic corners. The lighted up lantern type stools at the bar counter make beautiful photo shoots and probably igniting up the perfect mood for a beautiful night out.
Level 2 with the western food and a fusion of asian food has a brilliantly decorated ceiling.A serene place with not more than 20 tables.Service is good and attentive with a wide range of wine and spirits list.Food list is impressive too but the pricing is alo impressive as well. They have a live band here belting out old melodies.
We started with the salads.Been a peony lover myself so i had opted for the TMSK peony salad but at 88Rmb seems to rub off some of my favouritism away.Dish is rather non unique and taste is so so.I hope the presentation is worth the price too.
The other salad is Great harvest at 98RMb.We did not try that though.Next was followed by the soup,Wild Mushroom Cappucino. As i had mentioned the names of food are hi fi but taste normal.Cost of the soup is at 78Rmb.
Seafood consomme is not bad.
Main dish comprises of the Baked chinese savoury paste cod fish with angel hair pasta. This comes with a a fair sized portion of fresh cod fish, brilliant in taste but again the price weighs heavily at 268Rmb.
Pamseared king prawns in chardonay sauce at 268Rmb is not worth the price as the sizes ar rather knight sizes and the prawns are few.
Lobster is always my favourite and here ,TMSK lobster fried with brown wild rice with baby abalone at 258Rmb.,even though i find that the taste is passable but not my partner, still its rather too expensive.
Lastly to sum up with some desserts we had the dessert smelting tiramisu at 78Rmb and caramel apple tarts at 68Rmb.Tasted okay just like my next door uncle shop with a fraction of the price.
Overall i would sum up that this restaurant has a great interior ,good service ,average food but really heavy on the wallet.A four figure bill for just a party of two is common here.
Maybe one needs to pay a lot more for the location, prestige and the environment at a price.

“Incredible ambiance and show!”
Reviewed 18 June 2012

Definitely make reservations during their show time and try to get a table close to the stage. The musicians use antique styled Chinese instruments and play beautiful and mesmerizing music.

“Awesome cocktails”
Reviewed 9 November 2011

We did not eat at TMSK, but went for coctails in the very stylish bar. We were not disappointed. The coctail selection is huge and they make them in a very original way, with style and gusto. We spent one evening there sitting at the bar and really enjoyed our banter with the bartenders, who are very lively, and really enjoyed our coctails. I would highly recommend this to anyone lookinig for a great cocktail bar in Shanghai.
