If there would be a hotel which is different than the average it would be the Indigo, the claim is that this is the first in Asia of this Indigo concept. This was a business stay, there is no club or the usual stuff required when traveling alone. But there is a living room for guests instead.
The hotel room decoration is as complete as one could wish for and really very tastefully done, a mix of cozy but temporary furniture mixed with a lot of Chinese elements. Bottom line; not a standard hotel room and it makes you feel like you were in your own apartment. The personal touch with hand written 3M note pad's every night from guest relations made it very pleasant all together.
The location is as such that a lot of sites you would want to see are within a 30 minute walk max. The Bund, shopping, all withing walking reach but the hotel is not right in the middle of it.
The views in rooms 07 up to 11 per floor are best, over the Bund and river.
Breakfast is great, all fresh products, buffet and menu offering.
There is a Char restaurant and bar at highest floors, check it out, beautiful views at night and even better the food is top class.
Room rates are not lowest in the area but absolutely worth the offering.
If you want to be inspired over what next home decoration you would to upgrade to pick this hotel; you will walk away with a lot of ideas. And a fantastic stay on top.

Room Tip: Go for rooms 07 to 11 at each floor. The floor plan shows only 1 rooms per floor. Room number 1 migh...

With a very good rating for every category the Indigo is the first hotel that I'm rating as excellent here, and that's despite the fact that a bath tub in a five-star hotel is normally standard and much appreciated in winter.

From the artists' work that greet you in the lobby, the design reminders of the location's shipyard past and the little extras such as books (in our case Niall Ferguson's Ascent of Money) as well as the usual magazines in the room, and popcorn delivered with the DVD player you can borrow to watch movies from their library, staying here was a series of refreshing discoveries. We liked the bedside clock so much we wanted to buy one. Unfortunately, unlike many of the other items in the room, it wasn't available.

The staff are warm and always helpful (except for with the clock!) and the views from the terrace of the 30th story bar are spectacular. A street food market with local favorites for under a US$1 each is five minutes walk away, on the way to the Yu Yuan garden tourist area, and almost anywhere you'd want to go in Shanghai is a short taxi ride away, traffic permitting.

Room Tip: The rooms ending in 9 have the view of the Bund as well as Pudong

I was blown away by this hotel, great location on the bund with beautiful views. Upon arrival we were upgraded- everything in our room was stunning its like a boutique five star hotel. Staff were lovely and so accommodating. The breakfast is probably the best part with a hot meal and also a buffet offering and it really is of a five star standard. Theres a great bar with rooftop terrace, fitness center, restaurant everything you would need. The only problem was that I didn't want to leave the hotel. We also didn't check out until 3 o'clock the day we were leaving and again staff were just so accommodating and assured us this was ok. I would definitely stay here if back in Shanghai.

We stayed at Indigo for a weekend.
Every moment was great.
Check in easy with the opportunity for an upgrade to a bund view (that we gladly accepted, thank you)
Our room overlooked the night lights of the new pudong skyscrapers and historic bund ... We would have been happy laying in bed with room service enjoying the stunning view. Btw the bed was super comfortable!
Dinner on rooftop bar & grill was sublime ... And view even better.
Breakfast was simple but great. Fresh cafe style rather than large hotel buffet. Super coffee also! Beats Starbucks any day!
Free wifi topped off my 10 out of 10 experience
You must give indigo a try!
