Stay for 1 night in September 2013. I booked through Ctrip for 130RMB for a single room without window (cheapest room the hotel offers). At check in, a walk in customer got the same room type as me for only 128RMB. And this breaks down to 100RMB for the room and 28RMB for a hotel membership. He was told that with this hotel membership, subsequent nights will only be 100RMB/night. I was not offered this walk in rate (maybe because Ctrip will give my 20RMB credit base on my this booking). Anyway, I have to pay the 130RMB by cash or credit card during check in and another 100RMB cash as a deposit.

The room is very simple, clean and small. As I'm alone only for 1 night, it's perfectly fine. The washroom is very very small with the shower just above the sink and toilet bowl. Breakfast is sad. Please just skip it. For the price of the room, it is really amazing that there is still breakfast provided, though it is really quite sad. But the location is very very good! Close to subway, supermarkets, shopping, people's square, etc.

Very good hotel, rooms are smal but very clean! Not expensiv and on very good position. Bathrooms are like on ships. That is not so good for tall people. It is very small. Kichen of hotel is not so good. If you can, skip it. They have free wi-fi!!!

We had a quite bad experience with this hotel, service at the reception is very bad, nobody speaks English and if the do, they don't like to help you. Rooms not clean at all and noisy, only poor chinese breakfast

Centrally located, this hotel is a very convenient accommodation in Shanghai. It is very close to People’s Square. Only five minutes walking distance to metro station and if you really like to walk, it takes about 40–50 minutes to reach the famous The Bund.

We stayed in the standard double room. Room size is efficient, not too big but clean although carpet is bit of old, beds is firm. Bathroom is clean but not much space to hang the towels and to put down toiletries. This is also the problem in the room, no closet, only providing few hangers for guest to hang the clothes. See my picture. There is free Internet and hotel also provides computers in the lobby.

Breakfast was included but you could get better one outside the hotel. So many eating places nearby and they close really late too.

Another strong point for this hotel is the economic price despite its good location; the price is really reasonable.

I stayed in both the standard double room and the single room. Both are very small and I found the single room to be better valued than the standard twin-sharing room. The shower-room in the single is a work of art in space management. I was there during the Shanghai Expo and as such, the price was on the high side. This is a budget hotel so don’t overpay to stay there. Breakfast was included but you would not miss much if you choose to skip it. The breakfast area could get very crowded and chaotic also.

The saving grace and the best aspect of this hotel is its location, almost next to the Da Shi Jie metro station (Line 8, Dark Blue). It is four stops from the Shanghai Train Station (including one transfer) and about 30 minutes from the Shanghai South Train Station. I also took the metro (not the magnetic train) to Shanghai Pudong Airport. The whole journey was about 90 minutes. It is a fairly straight forward trip and it is one of the cheaper ways to get there. The station is also within a few stops of the other major metro lines so it is very quick to transfer to them. Nearby, there are many diners around and they open till very late.

Room Tip: Check out the single room if you are on a tight budget.

I am sure if there is one thing I will be remembered for is my recommendation of this hotel for budget-conscious single travellers in Shanghai. Location is perfect and if you buy their VIP card (for 30RMB or less than U$5) a single room with no windows cost all of 100RMB (or U$15) a night. Hotel is very close to People Square, Hua Huai Road etc...There is even free internet and a good AC system in the room. It is not recommended for fussy people, but the value for money cannot be beat! I stay there every time I go to Shanghai (exit Middle Jinling Road on Dashjie station - Line 8), and still cannot believe I pay 100RMB a night to stay in a wonderful location in Shanghai. Double Rooms begin at 208RMB, and are still very good value for money, but nothing like paying 100RMB a night. Oh, and don't even bother about breakfast, even though it is served it is not really fit for human consumption (and I really like street Chinese food in general).
