“Cheap, clean, nice, decent area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2013

My sister and I stayed here in June 2012 and were pleasantly surprised at how nice the interior was and how clean and spacious the room was. They provided a kettle, toothbrushes, toothpaste, comb and slippersand a soap dispenser in the ample sized shower. Quiet. We had to give them 200yuan, from which they deducted 25 yuan (less than $4) each for breakfast and then gave us back the change when we were leaving. The staff speak little English, but we managed to find our way around by pointing to maps . The metro is clean, fast and efficient and the nearest one to the hotel is called Dashijie. When you go out of the hotel turn right then left at the second street on the left; cross over the road and the station is up a little way under the McDonald's sign. Must see in Shanghai is the Yuyuan Gardens, which is fabulous, the Bund, but go at night time and if you get off the metro at the Science and
Technology Station there is a huge market right there. Someone took us exactly where we wanted to go to buy various things. Loved Shanghai! People speak very little English so have some translations with you and a decent map! Enjoy!

Room Tip: Make sure you have the hotel written in Chinese to show the taxi driver. Our room was away from the...

Stay at Jinjiang Inn was fab....very convenient location just at the start of Huaihai Road and also in the middle of Yunnan Lu Food street. tried many good local food around the hotel.....
U have famous Jianbao, cold dish chicken, hotpot places all around. also a lamb kebab stall where everyone is queuing. for breakfast, the cafe next door is not bad.
The hotel is also a short walk to the old town where u can explore the morning markets where you see local culture and life. very interesting! U can say this location is near both the new and old shanghai.
Its in the heart of town and all the places of interests are easily accessible by taxi here. dun bother to take the subway nearby, because everything is really quite near by cab:)

rooms - spacious, clean, modern.....the value at 300rmb/night is unbeatable. front desk service is also fine. free internet access in the lobby :)

Budget hotel with good location. About 15 mins taxi ride to XinTianDi if you are a party goer, this hotel would be ideal for you. There is no wifi inside the room except at the common area downstairs. You would need a laptop to surf internet inside the room. The Inn only provide disposable paper cups. Have suggested to the Inn if they can consider to include the bed blankets, spoons and cups (not the disposable type) which travellers can wash the cups after using. Easy access to a few places of interest which I did not have much time to explore as it's just a 2 days' stay at the Inn.

Room Tip: Non smoking rooms are located on the 7th floor.

I stayed here for 4 nights over the 2011 new year holidays in a standard room. From the moment I entered the hotel, i had been impressed by the hotel and its service staff. Despite its cheap room rates, the hotel has been professionally managed with a clean interior and nice cosy rooms. All areas within the hotel was spot-clean and looked new and this alone justified the costs that I paid for the stay.

Although the standard room is a little small, I did not feel uncomfortable. The room is well-lit with all the essential equipment including airconditioning, hairdryer, television. Two bottles of water were provided free each day.

The location of the hotel is good and it is a five minute walk from the nearest metro station. This station is just a stop from the People's Square station, an interchange that connects 4 metro lines. It is close to many restaurants including Mcdonalds and some that serve traditional chinese cuisines like xiao long bao.

Overall, the hotel has indeed exceeded my expectation. It is a 3 star hotel that provided a 5 start stay.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 November 2011

Stayed here for 3 nights in October (10th floor), and liked it so much we came back when we stayed for 6 nights in November (9th floor). The stay on the 10th floor seemed slightly better than the stay on the 9th, but both rooms were very new, very clean, and very well-kept.

Toothbrush and toothpaste, paper cups, bottled water, and disposable slippers provided and replaced daily. Bring your own conditioner, but they do have a combination shampoo/body wash for you to use. Hair dryer, electric water kettle, A/C in room. Secure: Touchless room cards operate the elevators, and automatically select your floor. Wired internet is available in rooms. WiFi (ask front desk for password) and an internet-connected computer (standing only) are available in the lobby. Housekeeping staff is very friendly and courteous.

Location is wonderful - many decent restaurants and shopping in the area, and no problem wandering around even after dark. Dasijie Station on #8 subway line is a few blocks away, no sweat. If you like walking, though, People's Square, Shanghai Museum, and Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street aren't too far away. If you need a cab, the corner of Huaihai East/Yunnan South is a good place to flag one down.

Clientele seems a mix of domestic and international travelers (more domestic).

Things to note: Hotel name is "Jinjiang Inn," as in jinjianginns.com . 10th floor is only accessible via one of the two elevators. Maximum one key card issued per room. The bathroom inexplicably pools a bit of water in strange locations - not enough to be a bother. A few mosquitoes, probably let in when housekeeping props the door open to clean the rooms.

Room Tip: Believe the rooms on the 10th floor are newer.

If you are looking for budget accommodation in central Shanghai (Puxi) you can't do much better than this hotel. It is very clean and offers good value.

The service isn't great but you get what you pay for and the people are at least very friendly.

Breakfast is extra and Chinese style so you may want to walk to the closest Starbucks (only 5 minutes walk from the hotel on Huaihai Road).

If you are looking for a great place to eat dinner try Bellagios on Taicang Road. It's about 20 minutes walk or 10 min by taxi. It is very close to Xintiandi. It's a popular place with locals serving great Chinese food.

Tip:
- If you are staying for a longer period you may benefit from buying a membership card that gives you a discount on the room rate. Ask in the reception when you check in.
- Some of the larger rooms only cost a few dollars (US) more per day and are significantly larger. If you need more space, this may be a good option.

We had two std rooms and each room has kettle, TV, free internet, phone, desk, slipers, paper cups, tea bags, table and chairs - no closet, drawers nor in room safe. One double bed and one twin bed in std room. Avg size room and bathroom compared to others in China. A clean budget hotel with a good location. Hotel fairly new and had keycard for elevator or your floor access only, so don't know how a sex service business card got slipped through our door. Moonlighting staff, perhaps. Our toilet is always clogged but the other room that my parents stayed in had no problem - must be our luck. Requested a room not facing the street and was able to get some quiet sleep. Street traffic is too noisy early in the morning. Restaurant on site and offers Chinese buffet breakfast and other meals. Location is good, walking to subway in 10 mins, 20 mins to the bazzar and Yuyuan garden. Taxi from Maglev to hotel is $33 rmb. Front entrance is small but hotel is fairly new. Modern, simple decor and best of all very affordable for Shanghai. $300 rmb per room per nt and can sleep 3 (two adults and 1 child). Service not so good, was told one thing by one and something else by another. English not very fluent.
