Ok, what do you expect from an exhibition centre? Quite a lot when you are travelling half way around the world to attend it. Shanghai New Expo Centre is large, huge in fact but that is because they can include a series of 100,000 sq ft sheds to produce 2 million square ft of exhibition space.
It is big but unlike NEC in Birmingham or the Expo Centre in Los Angeles, or Hong Kong and Cologne it feels disjointed. The sheds are separated so you transit in and outdoors to make your way around them. Every time you exit you get the blast of still hot air that is not then cooled by AC in the sheds.
Arrangements for food and beverage is also spread out and outside. There is variety but when the thing you crave most is a cool sanctum they provide no respite.
They have a lot of style in Shanghai and there ability to stage manage big things very well but the expo centre is not one of them.
Wear comfortable shoes, drink lots of water and be prepared for lots of walking exercise.
