I booked this hotel due to it's proximity to the train station. Big beds, big room, big bathroom in a semi-old, not busy hotel. Across the hotel are 2 shopping malls. There are no metro station nearby. Probably 20 minutes walk to the nearest station. But there are buses available.

Room Tip: There is a new, bigger Holiday Inn nearby but I would assume the rates are more expensive

I stayed here 1 night while traveling to Shanghai on business. This hotel is an excellent choice at any price. It would be a 4 star hotel here in the states. The property was very clean and updated. The room was very nice overall. There was a flat screen TV, work desk, and a very nice, updated bathroom. The heat control was a little hard to figure out since it was in Chinese, but after a few minutes fiddling around with the buttons, I got it to come on and heat the room. I was able to get a good nights sleep in the bed. There was plenty of hot water in the shower. The bathroom had all the expected amenities of a high-class hotel. Breakfast in the attached restaurant was excellent as well. It was a buffet with plenty of choices of both local and western foods. The coffee was good too as they had a cappuccino machine right a the buffet. Overall it was an excellent choice at a cheap rate. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for directions on how to use the heat.

'Paris Spring' (Ba li Chun Tian) shopping ctr opp the hotel, a sports city mega store opp the hotel, a karaoke ktv, several eateries/shopping along the street. Spoilt for choices. Amenities were more then basic in the hotel. Staying next to Qibao river (albeit a li'l bit dirty). Qibao Lao Jie is very near, can cab there for a walk!

If you don't mind the occasional sound of airplanes above you, which ends by 11 pm anyhow, this is a perfect place to stay if flying out often. Hardly a few kms from Hongqiao aiport, the hotel offers excellent amenities and comfort with excellent value for money. I booked through ctrip.com and got special offer price of RMB 229 for a night which was way below average in Shanghai. The rooms are quite spacious, (see pictures) - has attached balcony, huge LCD TV, dedicated space for working and free wired and wi-fi internet access.

In room amenities:
Coffee / Tea sachets
Electric kettle
Mini bar
Bath tub
Shower cubicle
Hairdryer

The hotel has a massage parlour on the 6th floor which is 24 hours and also very important - a Tuck shop - on the ground floor almost like a mini supermarket shop which is also operative 24 hours. They also deliver what you need in your room. So if you are hungry at night, want cigarettes or drinks, etc. just call and they will send it up. A very rare find in China.

The staff at night didn't speak good English but that is surely not a reason to dismiss the hotel at all. The coffee house on ground floor has decent buffet breakfast as well.

So if you are looking to take an early morning flight out of Hongqiao and want to spend a night or even 2, it is an amazing value for money hotel. The normal prices are also not very high so you would normally always find this hotel around USD 50 if you book right.

I would recommend this to all travellers taking a break in Shanghai and who would want to fly out of Hongqiao airport.

Room Tip: I was on the 6th floor with not much of a view but for the price, it was well worth it. For business...

Upon entering the room, all looked very nice. The decor was a bit dated but still quite nice. However, numerous things detracted quickly from my experience. The first were little things like the lack of sugar or sweeteners in the room for the tea. It might not be common to use sugar in tea in China but as a foreigner, it would have been nice. This was also one of those rooms that turned off all electricity to the room unless the key was in the slot next to the door. Normally, this is not a big deal. However, considering it was winter, the heat also did not work. Therefore, the room was always cold when I came in at the end of the day. Heating the room took some time and the worse part was that the heat turned off at midnight. Therefore, if you got back into the room late, as was often the case, there was not enough time to heat up the room before it turned off. The room stayed cold all night. Luckily the bed and pillows were comfortable and the room was quiet so I slept well once I bundled up. The breakfast was probably fine for the average Chinese traveler but might seem lacking for Europeans or Americans. The coffee was luke warm to cold and was not good at all. Actually, a few days we had breakfast at the Starbucks that is very close. Not a great breakfast but at least the coffee was hot and decent. The staff was helpful enough but only a few could speak decent English. Overall I was not satisfied.

Room Tip: The heat would not be an issue in warmer weather.

I found this hotel to be quite clean and well maintained...it's used to be called a different name, but now is called Yitel hotel.

In general, their rooms are quite big, and very clean. Cleanliness is comparable to that of a typical western 3 or 4 star hotel.

Breakfast is actually not bad. It is good with decent choices, although the selection is very limited.

There doesn't seem to be that many people staying there though....

Room Tip: Choose room facing golf course. It is more expensive, but bigger.
