“Great Airport Hotel”
Reviewed 14 April 2013

Summary: Great value, good location to be close to the airport, impressed.

- Location: 15 min by Taxi from the airport.
- Taxi: Make sure you have the address in Chinese, print it out or take a picture with your phone. The english address is meaningless for a taxi driver, especially if you come from the city, or the other airport. Possibly the dispatcher at the airport knows the address of the hotel.
- Price: very good for what you get.
- Rooms: large, fancy, clean. I stayed in many Hotels in China, this was a very good one. Typically you get this quality in 5 star hotels. It was quiet.
Ask for a room high up, you'll have a great view.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a great view.

Large room with fabulous large bathroom that had a nice deep bath, tv in the bathroom. Furnishing are a very high standard, bed was really nice, good amenities.
The buffet breakfast has a excellent selection of western and asian foods, as does the evening buffet.
Staff are great and all areas have at least 1 english speaking person available, will stay here again, especially when the new Disneyland opens in late 2014?
The hotel would/could be better if it had designated non smoking floors as smoking guests leave their doors open so asnot to set off the fire alarms but this makes the general public hallways very smokey, however the hotel does discourage smoking in all the public areas, something which is hard to police in China

Got a fair price from Hotels.com but they wouldn't give us the complimentary breakfast that was offered via the Hotels.com website, called Hotels.com and they wouldn't help us at all. No wireless in the room unless you have a local cell phone (like a lot of places in China). Good exercise room, had a nice workout finally, pool is chilly as is the jacuzzi. The room itself was nice.

We stayed here to be close to the airport for a trip home. I booked a suite which was huge, comfortable and well equipped for a good sum. But the hotel is in a suburb and even the taxi driver had to use Sat Nav but they do that a lot there. Check-in was efficient. The downside is that nobody except at reception spoke English ,not their fault but choosing where to eat was hard. We ended up in a private 12 person dining room in a Chinese restaurant on the first floor. Food was ok but nobody spoke English and after they only excepted cash no cards!
But the suite was fantastic.

I had a very late flight so looked for a close hotel to Pudong.
Very good choice. Location is very bad, but the hotel is a surprise. Typical apparetnly lucury chinese hotel, marble everywhere, huge spaces, kitch a bit.
Rooms very good, functional, clean, good forniture, good internet connection.
Service at chinese standard, ususal time wasting at check-in/check-out, but within chiense standards.
Very good pricing.
All in all very good for who arrives/leaves to/from Pudong, just for 1 night.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel, given that it's situated in an area that doesn't seem like the greatest neighborhood. The service was decent, and the room was a fantastic value for the price we paid to stay the night. Restaurant in the lobby level is open until midnight, and the food is average, but well done and nicely presented.
The bed was soft and comfortable, and the big, fluffy pillows were a nice touch. There were a lot of crazy cool buttons that slide curtains open and closed, turn on and off lights, open and close the shutters to the window of the bathroom, etc. A nice and modern touch to what could be a normal hotel room.
There were standard, but good quality amenities like shampoo/conditioner/shower gel, but I was most impressed with the bathroom facilities. There is a bathtub jacuzzi with complimentary bath salts that smell really amazing. Above the jacuzzi there is a TV monitor that you can control with the same remote as the bedroom TV. There is also a standing shower which features a waterfall showerhead and also includes a hand held shower head. It's all designed in a really chic way, and we enjoyed our stay there.
There is a breakfast included in the one-night stay, but it starts at 6am and we had to depart around 5:30AM to the airport for our flight. I definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying here again!

I was planning to reach Shanghai late at night and wanted to crash at a nearby hotel, and so had booked a room at Royal. Since my time of arrival was past their last shuttle service time, I had to take a cab. The receptionist helped me pen down the exact address which I got translated to Mandarin by an airport official at the inquiry counter. Reaching the hotel hardly took 15 minutes and the check in was extremely smooth.

I was pleasantly surprised by my room - modern, clean and very comfortable. The television had a decent number of international channels. The bathroom was very nice and even had a separate bath and shower area- rare for a airport hotel with a sub 100 US$ price tag.

I called for room service and was served with an excellent Pasta Arabiatta. Again a pleasant surprise, even though it took a while to come. Breakfast too was a nice spread of European as well as local cuisine.

Since I left the hotel early in the morning, I was not able to check any of its other facilities.
If I need a hotel close to Shanghai airport in the near future, I'll definitely return to this one.
